PHazard 02-17-2010, 11:11 AM Although Campbell isnt the only reason we are 4-12. He's a good chunk of it. When you are the QB, you are the face of the organization. If you win, you get the praise. If you lose, you get the blame. Its the nature of the beast. Peyton Manning did pretty damn well with a shitty offensive line comprised of mid rounders and undrafted free agents. Not to mention a running game that was ranked 32 in the league, or as i like to call DEAD LAST. But he doesnt get sacked cuz he knows how to read a defense and knows where to go with the ball. i am in NO WAY comparing manning and campbell. But a FRANCHISE QB would have gotten more than 4 wins. We had 8 losses of less than ONE possession (against Giants, Lions, Panthers, Chiefs, Cowboys, Eagles, Saints, Chargers). Campbell cant drive down the field at the end of a game against a prevent defense to give his team a chance to win. Say we came back in even half of those games then we're 8-8 and the season doesnt look damn near as dismal. If we won them all (unlikely obviously, we'd be 12-4) lol ridiculous right? And we had a head coach that was so busy being a QB's coach, that our whole team downspiraled and campbell STILL didnt raise his game. Statistically yes but those are deceiving. Not saying campbell was our only problem cuz thats far from the case but a franchise QB can read a defense, make audibles at the line and lead his team to victory. 3 things jason campbell cant not do
johno 02-17-2010, 11:12 AM But its ok me and you will enjoy Bradford but Campbell just AVG with an OL. I recorded every tape and seen this guy to know he isn't it.
 it becomes difficult to read this drivel after a while.
Back to the topic at hand, we all know there isnt a team out there that is going to give us a 1st and 3rd for Campbell. What is a more likely offer that we would accept? Should accept?

A conditional 3rd round pick that could become a 2nd if Jason meets certain criteria during the season.....we could still get a decent runningback or OL with a 3rd round pick.
CRedskinsRule 02-17-2010, 11:32 AM I think teams will try to offer a 3rd, but we should push for either a mid 2nd, or a 3rd and 6th. JC is a proven mid-grade starter and we shouldn't shortchange ourselves, but we also know we want to go a different direction so lets get something for him.

Anything less than a 2cd round pick in my eyes would be more detrimental to the team than actually keeping JC for another season. It is very difficult to say at the moment not knowing who is on the bench at QB2, QB3. We would have to find a decent backup to take less than a 2cd, and isn't that what we already have in JC.
Monkeydad 02-17-2010, 11:37 AM 1: You haven't seen the 08-09 Jason Candle have you?.
2: It doesn't mean we want to keep him it means we are shopping to see what we can get for him. Honestly this is 70% chance Candle will not be back.
3: You would let Jason Candle come back and end up leaving than to get a 4th round pick which could help us pick up a Tackle or G or what ever?.
4: It wouldn't mean nothing we will regardless get a QB with more picks.
I mean I'm still shocked your saying we aren't better off with him. Do you believe Joe Montana-Steve Young- Bret Favre wouldnt give us a better record than 4-12?
Here we go again with the candle crap...do you realize NO ONE is going to take anything you say seriously with that immaturity? (not that your points are valid and unbiased anyways)
I do believe we should draft a Tackle with that #4 pick. Even if we get Bradford or Claussen, they won't be able to develop without a solid line. Think David Carr.
We won't get a 1st and 3rd for Campbell from anyone, so even speculating about a trade like this is pointless. Our best bet for success is to build up the line and let Campbell run Shanny's offense, which is tailor-made for his skillset. Shanahan's offense is run-heavy but the QB's role is made easy for a mobile QB to succeed. He likes to use half of the field and roll out the QB a lot. When tjhe QB rolls out, he'll have 3 routes being run at different depths right in front of him...so the progressions are as easy as counting 1-2-3 as the QB looks at all open options right in front of him. If no one is immediately open, the QB can take off, something that Campbell does better than most QBs in the league. He just needs to learn how to slide!
I think JC will be highly successful in this offense IF we have an offensive line and running game, which could come with the rebuilding of the line. With out first two picks at least, we need a Tackle and a Center/Guard. Rabach is backup material and cost us far too many points and possessions. After that, draft a RB and LB. If LeFevour is around in rounds 4-6, get him to groom as the #2 QB and to compete with Colt Brennan, who may not even make the team if we get someone like LeFevour. Late picks, get more depth at OL, LB and maybe even a CB with last-round potential. No more "best available" picks...we have specific and vital needs this year that Vinny and his crew ignored for years.
I recorded every tape and seen this guy to know he isn't it.
Try watching them, please.
redsk1 02-17-2010, 11:45 AM If they tender him at the 1st and 3rd level, that's just the starting off point for negotiations. It doesn't mean that he can only be dealt for a 1st and 3rd.
Do you think they would take a 2nd for him? I think they might if they get one. It's possible. I'm not sure a team would give up a second though.
I do think MS's plan is to keep JC and draft a QB to sit for a year.
Purely for speculation, If you do get a 2nd for JC, you'd have a 1st and 2 2nds. Trading down we could potentially have a later 1st and 3 2nds or 2 2nds and a 3rd.
4 potential draft picks in the 1st two rounds would be a good thing. That could fill some holes. We'd be sacrificing by not having an experienced QB in 2010. There are some qb's on the market though that could fill that role. Hey, i know, I'm bored.
Dirtbag59 02-17-2010, 11:48 AM All right well since we'll never get rid of the Campbell/Bradford/etc debate for another year maybe it's best to go to the thing that doesn't lie. "Film" or in this case highlights. Here's JC at his best. Is he a franchise QB or a just a really good QB?:

On a side note it's amazing how good we were at running left.
tryfuhl 02-17-2010, 11:52 AM Hell if we got a 1st and 3rd for him I'd vote for Obama in 2012.
I almost peed a little hahahaha
tryfuhl 02-17-2010, 11:53 AM we would never get a 1st and 3rd for him, tender him for something we would get for him like a 3rd or 4th
You don't understand tenders.
