So are we back to the conspiracy theory that the "powers that be" in the NFL want to see Gibbs fail in his return to football?
Gibbs Press Conference at 5pmLongTimeSkinsFan 11-01-2004, 07:49 PM So are we back to the conspiracy theory that the "powers that be" in the NFL want to see Gibbs fail in his return to football? MTK 11-01-2004, 07:54 PM Why do people think Gibbs doesn't know Brunell is not playing well?? He said he had some errant throws, couldn't convert on 3rd downs, couldn't get the ball in the endzone... that all sounds like problems with the QB to me. I guess some people want him to single out Brunell each week, "Yeah Mark really sucked out there today, he's courageous but he sucked". I guarantee once Ramsey plays he'll protect him in the media the same exact way. He's not going to throw gas on the fire by calling out his QB no matter how bad he plays, we've all seen how QB controversies go and it never ends pretty. MTK 11-01-2004, 07:56 PM So are we back to the conspiracy theory that the "powers that be" in the NFL want to see Gibbs fail in his return to football? With some of the calls and non-calls we've seen this year it certainly makes you wonder. Call it karma, bad luck or whatever, it just seems anytime there's a key penalty we're on the receiving end. Redskins8588 11-01-2004, 08:10 PM It is a shame that when my wife sees that it was a bogus flag and she hardly understands the game!!!! That Guy 11-01-2004, 08:10 PM pretty worthless press conference... chad bowen lott and jansen out for the season, lavar and barrow still hurt... it never ends... well, thats two more spaces to hire 40 year old Olinemen and 35 year old TEs to... ;) Sheriff Gonna Getcha 11-01-2004, 08:11 PM Yeah Matty, I picked up on Gibbs' angry tone about the horrible call-back of Brunell and Portis' TD. I should have communicated that better, thanks. I'm so pissed off right now about that call I can't see straight. It's probably good I'm in Wisconsin right now (even if it is Packer country) because if I were at FEDEX, I probably would've rushed the field and strangled one of the refs. I know Gibbs is disappointed with Brunell's play and I admire his loyalty...to a certain extent. I appreciate that he's not going to throw fuel on the fire. He'll be as loyal to Ramsey or anyone else who is under center. That said, I'm still frustrated with Gibbs for keeping Brunell in. How can I not be? Call it karma, bad luck or whatever, it just seems anytime there's a key penalty we're on the receiving end. And how about the non-call on that Gardner to Portis play to start the game? If the refs are not going to call that then they shouldn't have called PI on Lemar Marshall in the endzone. By the way, I heard Brunell finished with a higher passer rating than Favre. Is that true? Yes you heard right, as from nfl.com Brunell 66.1 and Favre 61.3. Gmanc711 11-01-2004, 09:05 PM Yeah, Favre didnt exactly light it up either. He just chucks it up and hopes his guy gets it. Daseal 11-01-2004, 09:07 PM we've all seen how QB controversies go and it never ends pretty. Weren't you the guy that said Brunell coming in wouldn't cause a QB controversey? =p Favre threw 3 INTs. That normally drops your rating a bit! |
