Yeah I'm not sure how throwing $$ at a spoiled brat is going to reform him in any way
The next Clinton Portis trashtalk victim: Lavar ArringtonMTK 02-09-2010, 11:43 AM Yeah I'm not sure how throwing $$ at a spoiled brat is going to reform him in any way Chico23231 02-09-2010, 12:13 PM Yeah I was one who thought Brandon Marshall might be a fit here, but it was more because of Shanny being here and his attitude might flourish rather than go the way of CP. I really dont see CP conforming the same way at this point with Shanny. One thing I feel is Shanny is going to want to add a receiver into his offense. skinsfan69 02-09-2010, 12:41 PM I'm not saying you haven't thought it through, I don't know as much about Marshall other than his making the news a bit too much. He's for sure a top 5 wr. It sounds like your description of Marshall about fits what CP was when he was in Denver; CP got a new deal here, and on top of that restructured & got a heap of $ guaranteed. Did that change his behavior? I'd say to some extent it's made him worse. well maybe, maybe not. pat bowlen said recently that he wanted marshall back cause he felt he's done a lot of growing up. SolidSnake84 02-09-2010, 12:53 PM I think Portis' biggest problem here is that he knows he will get paid no matter what...thats why he doesnt care about practicing, playing well or basically doing anything. Portis knows he has no incentive now to do anything different....hell even if we cut his ass he still gets paid!!! Why would he care??? freddyg12 02-09-2010, 01:05 PM well maybe, maybe not. pat bowlen said recently that he wanted marshall back cause he felt he's done a lot of growing up. People can always grow up, maybe he has, though the way the season ended w/Marshall I wouldn't be too confident. The point of my post & Matty's was that your logic in wanting Marshall didn't jibe w/the standards you were judging CP by. Both of them have demonstrated very selfish behavior around their team. I do appreciate the point about Marshall not throwing teamates under the bus. CP is more TO like in that regard. On the other hand, CP has never been in any real trouble like Marshall has. Marshall has been in the news for his fight w/his fiance I believe, and of course the incident in which he "accidentally fell" and cut himself. That's something you've got to consider about a guy you'd have to pay $40 mil or so guaranteed to in order to sign. SmootSmack 02-09-2010, 01:18 PM well maybe, maybe not. pat bowlen said recently that he wanted marshall back cause he felt he's done a lot of growing up. Could just be that Bowlen is trying to keep Marshall's trade value high but praising his attitude. No one questions his talent, but it's his attitude that could keep his stock lower than the Broncos would like 53Fan 02-09-2010, 01:30 PM Could just be that Bowlen is trying to keep Marshall's trade value high but praising his attitude. No one questions his talent, but it's his attitude that could keep his stock lower than the Broncos would like That certainly makes sense. BM's antic's are what has made it more difficult to trade him for the most value. If he's really changed, you'd think they'd keep him. Problem solved. His talent is certainly not under question. Longtimefan 02-09-2010, 01:35 PM Still trying to figure out who Arrington was directing his long drawn out and emphatic rant towards, but if it was directed at Portis he should have said it to him instead of over the airways. Found it interesting with him sounding as if he was trying to serve up some form of life lesson to the youth. I don't want my grandchildren listening to much of anything he has to say, for he could use some life lessons himself. When LaVar was drafted a Redskin I said to anyone willing to listen that he was eventually going to become a problem, mainly because of the people he chose to represent him. He didn't disappoint, he became a problem then and even from a distance now he's still a problem. It's time to leave all that old has-been nonsense in the past. We no longer need these on-going distractions with Portis, past and current Redskins. Enough already. Son Of Man 02-09-2010, 01:40 PM Oh Joy! Another Portis bashing thread from the Snake man! This is becoming a weekly occurence. BTW- LaVar Arrington is a jaded former player who takes every opportunity to bash the organization and even Coach Gibbs. He left uncermoniuosly, went to the G-Men, and did NOTHING! He was a player of superior talent who unfortunately was incorrigible and thought too much of himself. Seems to be the same gripe people have about CP...so who gives a shit what either one says about the other. One's a jaded former player using the media to air his grievences and the other is a current player who needs to learn when to just zip it. Their arguement can be summed up with, "Hey kettle, you're black". mlmdub130 02-09-2010, 01:44 PM Still trying to figure out who Arrington was directing his long drawn out and emphatic rant towards, but if it was directed at Portis he should have said it to him instead of over the airways.
