Well we have the "Let It Snow Thread" and I was thinking how long could I survive if I lost power in a big winter storm. I thought it would be fun to see how long each of us feel we could survive without assistance and what would we do to survive.

EDIT: THIS IS BASED OFF BEING TRAPPED AT HOME.

I live in a small apartment with no fireplace, so if I was completely stuck in my place I might be a goner pretty quickly. Then again, I feel like I'm pretty adaptable so if I could get out I might be able to last for a little while.

Basically, I have no idea.

Probably a week considering my "bomb shelter supply". Maybe two if I limit myself. I inventoried it last night and had the wife get fresh batteries when she went out. I got everything from bottled water, evaporated milk, small gas grill, canned soup, weather radio, lights, etc...

Once in RI after a big hurricane we went 8 days with no power, it sucked. I still remember my first hot meal after that storm, Burger.

No power=no internet access=no warpath. We're all doomed!!!!

I'm cheating and calling up friend or family that has power or a generator.

I guess I'll go first. We always buy some extra food when these kind of storms hit so i think we could go 2 to 3 weks if we really had to. We have a gas stove and a grill so we should be ok there for cooking. Sense it a winter storm we won't have to worry about refigeration as we can put food outside. Our living room has a big fire place so we could seal off the room and probably stay warm. If we cannot keep the living room warm enough we could always move into the garage as I have a wood stove and can easly keep it in the 70's. I actually have a hard time keeping the garage from getting to warm when the wood stove gets going. So I'm guessing we could go 3 weeks or maybe a little more if our food and firewood do not run out. Gas sould not be an issue if we needed to drive as my boat always has 50 gallons or more in its tank that easy to get to.

I would try and make it to my parents house...i live in an apartment with no wood stove or gas stove, so food wouldn't be an option. At the homeplace, they have a woodstove, gas stove, and an ample supply of canned/dried foods.

However, if things got real bad, i would survive by eating the frozen corpses of my comrades....

I guess I should have added if your trapped at home.Seeing as this is a football site and all, I think it's interesting that if I were stuck at my house for a long time my tailgating stuff would probably what keeps me going the longest. I have a portable gas grill, blankets, tarps, and an ample supply of beanbags to throw at marauders. The knowledge I've gained from years of rigging makeshift shelters and cooking utensils at Redskins and Terps games will really pay off.
