seems obvious to me Gregg Williams is going to be the most sought after coach after this season. whats to prevent him from jetting like Marvin Lewis before him? i know unlike Lewis, he was a head coach before, but what he's done with this essentially no-name (backups) defense is near miraculous and impossible to ignore.

I really dont think hes gonna be that hot of a comodity as a head coach. One year remvoed from the disaster that was Buffalo, I dont even know if he would want to leave.

2 things will keep him here

17-31 record with Buffalo in 3 seasons

He's very well paid here, I highly doubt anyone would be willing to outpay us for him

And #3, who's to say he wants another HC job so soon? He's said that he's very happy coaching the D again, so who knows, maybe he really wants to stick with the D for now?

I agree with that, Buffalo was a huge flop and now he is doin amazing things with alot of back-ups. I think he will hang around to boost his own ego a little bit and hopefully get a shot at the head spot when Joe leaves again. Maybe after working under Gibbs he will do a little better the second time around.

In addition, Williams is just not a offensive coach. That was his problem in Buffalo. He still had like the number two ranked D there, but their offense sputtered up and down the feild, thats why they lost. The guy is flat out a defensive coach, while I think he will be a head coach again someday, I think, and hope it wont be for a few years. I would like to see him be our coach after Gibbs.

Plus, Gibbs probably stressed to him that this was a long term project, and asked if he could commit. I'm willing to bet the topic came up in the initial discussions.

Let's hope he's on board for at least the next 3 years as d coordinator.

Well if he does take Gibbs place, lets just hope he does better than the last defensive coordinator that took Gibbs place.

well...look at the offense in buffalo now...under a STRICTLY offensive coach, the former OC of pittsburgh...
