Fins have released Porter
Dolphins likely to cut Porter before MarchSmootSmack 02-12-2010, 07:13 PM Fins have released Porter GridIron26 02-12-2010, 07:21 PM Fins have released Porter And then retained him back due to a rule: Miami Dolphins terminate contract of veteran linebacker Joey Porter - ESPN (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4909494) SmootSmack 02-12-2010, 07:22 PM And then retained him back due to a rule: Miami Dolphins terminate contract of veteran linebacker Joey Porter - ESPN (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4909494) Woah. Didn't see that. Thanks Ruhskins 02-12-2010, 07:22 PM Fins have released Porter Short release, he's back with the Fins. They'll probably cut him on March 5 though: Miami Dolphins terminate contract of veteran linebacker Joey Porter - ESPN (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4909494) GridIron26 02-12-2010, 08:07 PM Short release, he's back with the Fins. But due to the rule, he can be released only after March 5th, and he's due to get the 1 million dollars on March 1st.. Ruhskins 02-13-2010, 07:34 PM Let's go back in history.... 1) Jeff George - signed @ 32yrs for $18 as a backup quarterback for $18 million/4yrs. Played six games his first season, then fired in 2001. 2) Bruce Smith - signed @ 37yrs for $23 million for 4 years from Snyder 3) Deion Sanders - signed @ 33yrs for $8 million signing bonus, $55 million/7yrs (quit in 2001). 4) Jason Taylor - signed @ 34yrs for 2nd/6th round picks, $8 million/year. Let me reiterate, signing an old veteran is not a good idea. They usually take the money, and never are worth it. At least Bruce Smith got us 29 sacks.. I don't think anyone here is saying sign him to a big contract, only to a vet min situation. Although he is very unlikely to come here. Dirtbag59 02-13-2010, 07:37 PM i feel like porter would come here and possibly start fights in the locker room with someone else. Don't care for him anymore You would be right. And ironically he has a history with one of our players: Joey Porter fined for punching Levi Jones - USATODAY.com (http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/dolphins/2007-05-30-porter-fined_N.htm) tryfuhl 02-14-2010, 03:10 AM I don't think anyone here is saying sign him to a big contract, only to a vet min situation. I wish that people wouldn't mention vet min he's not a vet min player.. he's not worth signing at a peak contract, but come on... that'd be a slap in the face to even mention it, much less offer it Dirtbag59 02-14-2010, 05:12 AM I wish that people wouldn't mention vet min he's not a vet min player.. he's not worth signing at a peak contract, but come on... that'd be a slap in the face to even mention it, much less offer it From this day fourth the vet min shall only be mention in parody or after the fact. The days of being "super smart stern negotiator commandos" using the vet min is over, not that it was ever around to begin with. tryfuhl 02-14-2010, 05:16 PM Exactly, especially if you mean here in Washington haha |
