A lot of players in the NFL have this kind of attitude, while there are others (Fletcher) who are appreciative of being selected after being overlooked for years. It's sad.

The pro-bowl has always been a joke, but like your thread title suggests, it's at an all time low. There's been at least a half dozen guys selected for the pro-bowl this year who are suddenly "injured" and can't play. Then you get another half a dozen from the Super Bowl teams who need to be replaced. Now this thing with McKinnie (Julius Peppers also missed a practice unexcused).
I mean, I'm sure these guys are happy to be named Pro-bowlers, but NO ONE gives a sh*t about playing in the game. Let's be honest, the only reason participation by selected players has been so high in the past in because the games has always been in Hawaii.
I'm going to the movies tonight with my fiancee. I have zero desire to watch the game.
Edit: I just read that 31 players originally selected will not play because of the Super Bowl and injuries. 31!!! What a joke. It's like the JV pro-bowl.

For some odd reason, I thought the changes to have it one week before the superbowl was a good idea. I never watched it because after the superbowl, football is done for me. I wish they would open it up to make it more competitive though.

Do we really care? The Pro Bowl is a joke. In most cases they are trying to protect the players from getting hurt so certain plays are off limits. Certain blocks are off limits. The big supprise was when Taylor decleated the punter. Otherwise its practically two hand touch.
Where the big stink should come from is Minn. The whole team should be embarrassed cause one of their own couldn't live up to the hype.

Perhaps the Pro Bowl should be played in the preseason or in mid-season like the MLB All-star game.

The Pro Bowl is a joke, but I watch it simply because I won't get to watch London Fletcher and Brian Orakpo play next weekend. :( I'll take what I can get.

I don't think that ANYBODY would play in it mid-season
pre-season is kind of interesting, it skews the voting and everything though.. too many off-season changes unless you vote RIGHT before it. due to free agency, cap cuts, etc

Someone on the radio suggested that the Pro Bowl be played the week after the super bowl, and that it should be played overseas instead of a team losing a home game.
This, in turn, would have players excited for the the pro bowl (new city, bigger buzz about the game for ex-pats overseas/football fans, etc.) I think this is a great idea. I hate teams losing a home game overseas, and this makes the pro bowl interesting. Even the best players want a free trip overseas.
