SBXVII 02-04-2010, 12:08 AM I'm officially making my stand right now. I would rather have Bradford than Clausen. But i would love to see COLT BRENNAN finally get a shot. Shanahan is known for suiting an offense to the best of a QB's abilities. Bases his offense with the run game and play action (like jets did wit Sanchez). He likes a QB with a quick release and mobile in the pocket. THATS COLT! At least give him a shot and see what he can do!
I totally agree but dude, Colts gotta stay healthy. He came out of college with an injury needing surgery. Last year he was put on IR. As long as he can stay healthy then I hope he does well also. I actually hope he has an excellent camp and Shanahan is impressed and having a hard time deciding who to start.

Ditto. I would love to see a 6th rd pick come out and prove the naysayers wrong.
Does anybody know the specifics of Colt's injuries? Does he have the type that could linger?
GusFrerotte 02-04-2010, 12:24 AM If Shanny drafts a QB, Brennan is toast. Brennan should have been the one cut not Daniel last season. If we land Lefevour, Stull, Sheehan, or even Kafka, Colt is going to have a very hard time making the roster.

Well that all depends. I would hope Collins is cut. Out with the old in with the new. If nothing else Colt would still be the #3 QB. My preference would be to draft the QB Shanahan wants, keep JC if for nothing else as our vet QB on the roster, keep Colt and bring in an undrafted QB that both Shanahans think they could work with. If Colt can't build up more bulk or muscle mass and gets injured again then it's time to cut him.

That one article sort of points out that a vet QB is going to be brought in to back JC up, but Shanny might still draft someone. The article also questions if Shanny thinks Colt has any utility. I personally agree. We got the guy in the 6th round. This guy set NCAA passing records against lame competition most of his career at Hawaii and when they played the big game in the Superdome the Bulldogs crushed him. I know all this is history, but if the rest of the NFL passed on the guy, they must have known something and we just took a big gamble on the guy. Lefevour would definitely beat him out in a QB contest, and I think most of the others I previously listed also would beat Colt.

Depends on who that other veteran is and how they play in camp. I just haven't seen anything to suggest that Shanahan would be eager at this point to get rid of Brenan.

I don't know if Colt is good or not. Honestly I haven't seen enough of him. People argue he got all those records with a gimmic offense and an easy conference. I don't know. He might suck. If he does lets move on. I'm just ready for some new blood in that position. Colts been injured the whole time here, Collins is an aged vet that takes too many chances and usually throws an interception here and there, and Campbell has not shown to me that his potential is on the up swing. He seems like he's now just treading water. Stagnant. But if both Shanahan's see something they think they can work with after Gibbs, Saunders, and Zorn have all tried to further JC's developement then I'm fine with it. They are the proffessionals. :)
PHazard 02-04-2010, 02:21 PM Yeah Shanahan will most certainly bring in a vet QB to back up Campbell for the 1st year and i agree if he drafts a QB that Colt will be gone :-( He had an injury on both hips but those have been taken care of and he had a whole year off. Yes he had a gimmicky offense but it wasnt the fact that HE was overmatched in the bulldogs game, his WHOLE TEAM WAS. They dropped 8 into coverage and had 3 MASSIVE DLineman shreddin his OLine up like cheddar. He had no chance in that game because of Georgia's game plan. Im just sayin he possesses the kind of energy that we need from a Leader spot like QB, the kind of energy thats addictive, that would make the whole team feel young and eager to win. If he's not the answer than so be it, but AT LEAST see what he can do in this system!
CultBrennan59 02-04-2010, 02:43 PM Brennans young, cheap, and a back up whose learning the offense just like the rest of us. He kind of reminds me of a poor mans cutler. That said I would say that Brennan probably has one of the better chances of making the 53man roster next year considering Todd Collins I believe is toast. And Jason is just as shaky as brennan IMO.
