redrock-skins 10-31-2004, 11:43 PM Can anyone even somewhat explain what the officials could have possibly thrown that flag for?
Aparrently Thrash was still in motion when the ball snapped. I've seen the replay 10 times and still don't see it.
Can anyone even somewhat explain what the officials could have possibly thrown that flag for? They said Thrash wasn't set before the snap.
I can see their point, kinda, I guess he wasn't "set" for a full second like you're supposed to be, but that kind of stuff happens all game long in every game around the league.
It was a really, really touchy call. Not that kind of call you want to see take points off the board that's for damn sure.
JWsleep 10-31-2004, 11:44 PM Can't really remember a call that was more painful as a skins fan. It was a mindblowing momentum swinging piece of bull sh**.
Unbelievable.
SmootSmack 10-31-2004, 11:48 PM I didn't see Brunell get injured, but I am tired of hearing Gibb's say he fought his gut's out, he's the only one not fighting his gut's out, and the rest of the team is taking it on the chin because of his incompetency, as far as Im concerned the only guy's that are fighting their gut's out are the guy's trying to win in spite of Brunell.
You bring up a very good point. A lot has been made of Gibbs' loyalty to his QBs, and that's all fine and good but as head coach Gibbs' chief loyalty should be to the team, not to any one individual player. How do you think it feels to be Lav Coles for example? Here's a guy who goes out there for every play with a hand that he can barely close because of a bad finger and a toe that needs surgery only to see passes sail over head. Then after the game he has to hear the coach say the people around Brunell have to step it up. I can't imagine he appreciates hearing that

It really sucks that such a key moment of the game had to be decided by a rather irrelevant penalty. I mean this isn't pass interference, roughing the passer, or a blatant holding that we're talking about here
JWsleep 10-31-2004, 11:57 PM I agree smoot. Even if it did happen, it had NO bearing on the play, and it definetly is something that happens a lot. The ref should keep the flag in his pocket.
Gmanc711 11-01-2004, 12:00 AM Think of it this way....
If they hadent thrown a flag, do you think Packer fan would be " Oh my god, take that TD back there was illegal motion. That guy wasent set , that guy wasent set. Illegal Motion, Illegal motion."
Somehow I dont think Packer fan would be doing that, maybe cause it was a rediculous penalty that had no bearing on the play. Really it wasetn even a penalty. God what a rediculous call.
Dana87 11-01-2004, 12:36 AM Matty you're right on that one. I will admit Brunell missed a couple of passes today. But once again the line play was awful. The pass he missed to Cooley he didn't have time to plant and throw.
redrock-skins 11-01-2004, 12:40 AM Was the flag thrown immediately upon the snap?

I saw Brunell with quite a bit of time back there, he had a heck of lot more time than I have seen Ramsey have in 2 years under SS. No he didn't have much time to throw that ball to Cooley but he had enough, he over threw it not under threw it, all he had to do is under throw it and it was 6 point's, bottom line he can't hit wide open recievers when he has time, we can't expect him to hit guy's when he has little time, I do believe the announcers are also sending subtle hint's to Gibb's, they kept harping on how brunell keep's missing wide open recievers and how he's not getting the job done, for what that's worth?
