Still yesterday, they were bringing it up to remind us that Haiti was nothing, Katrina is still a mess!

I'm torn, I would love to root for Gregg Williams and even Brunell and Prioleau, but I am just sick of the "Saints are so strong they way they saved the city after Katrina...New Orleans deserves this!"

It makes me want to root against them.

Anyways, I want to see Peyton Manning win more SBs than Brady to shut the annoying Bostonians up. :D

I'm the same way and I'm taking the whole Katrina thing out of this. Just saying that all of a sudden they get good and then the bandwagon rolls out. Has Cowboys circa mid-90s all over it.

Actually we are still rebuilding from Katrina.

You're in MS. The actual center of the storm. We never hear about you and I'm sure most of the fund raising by politicians and celebs gets poured into New Orleans, not Mississippi or anywhere else hit by hurricanes. I'm just tired of the sympathy campaign for New Orleans. They have received more money than any other place that was hit by a natural disaster and are still asking for more.

I have a ton if respect for the people of Mississippi after the hurricane. They never complained, never asked for Government and taxpayer handouts and in fact, were better prepared because they're not electing corrupt people to spend the levee money on everything BUT safety.

Seriously, every time I am watching football and they start talking about the Saints and Katrina, I always (often out loud) ask "What about Mississippi, or Florida?"

I understand it WAS devastating to a lot of people, but the actions of some in New Orleans afterward and then electing the same people who almost cost them their lives...it's tough to feel as much pity for them.

Thank you. New Orleans took Katrina on the chin because they built poor levees. We took Katrina on the chin because Katrina came right through our town. People on my block died because of trees falling on their houses and it was pure fortune that it wasn't me, too. It drives me nuts when people mention New Orleans only in connection to Katrina and forget about Mississippi.

But if you think that Mississippi does not elect corrupt politicians, then I'd like to sell you the Brooklyn Bridge. :)

That is in bad taste to compare Katrina to Haiti. It is saying our disaster was worse than yours. Last report they had already buried 150,000 bodies with more to come in Haiti. At least with Katrina, the folks hit had time to get out, as they knew it was coming.

Yeah Haiti isn't anything. Over 150,000 dead and the body count is going to rise even more. A hurricane is overpowering for sure, but folks have at least a couple days to evacuate. You know it is coming and can escape. An earthquake is immediate and very scary. I know they are still rebuilding in NO and other places, but damn, Haiti is going to be rubble for a long, long, time.

Regardless of Katrina the Saints are a great story. For years they were the doormat of the NFL, took them til 1987 to even make the playoffs, and now finally the Super Bowl. And if you've ever been to New Orleans, you know what a special city it is and how important this is to them. I think it's going to be a great Super Bowl!

Thank you, Matty.
First of all, New Orleans is a mess by its own hand. Failed levees that were not properly designed or maintained and failed. Corrupt Louisiana politics stealing funds and attentions to infastructure coupled with undereducated populace equals a recipe for disaster. Enter Katrina...
I am a military brat who was born in D.C. I have two younger sisters born in california, and have lived everywhere from Philadelphia to the Phillippnes. I now live in New Orleans, and have made her my home since exactly 30 days after Katrina hit here. I have had the pleasure meeting, working, helping, and spending my life for the last four and a half years with New Orleanians. Both black and white, born here, or transplants, there is a sense of New Orleans among the people here.(Anyone who has visited here can identify with what I mean by this).
For those of you that are "sick" or "tired" of hearing about "Katrina", or how much the Saints, "mean to the city", I have to wonder of your motives. From a true disaster, to a Superbowl? Who in their right mind as a Saints fan, or a resident here in New Orleans, wouldn't take this as a sign of hope, rebirth, or as a positive note post Katrina?
This should give us all hope as Redskins fans! The Redskins are a true NFL franchise disaster. I mean this should give us all hope and proof that if a team that has a 40 something year history of being pathetic, and flooded out of town for a year, rebuilt with a rookie head coach, won their first playoff game, hosted their first NFC championship, and went to their first Superbowl, WE CAN GET THERE TOO.
So, If you are not just strictly "hating" on the Saints, and their recent success, Then how can you not be "touched by", or feel something for the lovable losers that have suddenly gained stregnth in their city's lowest moment?
