Haslett to accept Defensive Coordinator

get ready to care.....we don't have the players for the 3-4

JLC just said on NFL Network that Haynesworth & Shanny might bump heads when it comes to the 3-4 defense.

Threaten to trade him to the Raiders. That should get him to go along with anything we want him to do, heck I think we could get Big Al to play CB with a threat to send him to Oakland.

Loosing $40 million for Snyder is like me loosing a $50 bill. Sure it sucks but I'll live and so will Snyder.

yeah!?!? /confusion. I don't know, this is not anything but a wait and see, it could be a success, failure, or just average...in other words failure. Hopefully he knows how to utilize the talent...Haynesworth, Orakpo, Carter, Fletcher, Landry, Horton...the list goes on, if he can harness the ability of all the individuals then we should have a good defense going forward

you can't rebuild your whole roster in a season, this isn't Madden

if you have a QB that can't throw certain balls well, you let him throw the ones that he can then you look into getting somebody who can

like I said, you can't get every player that fits the scheme perfectly overnight, so to not adjust based on what you have would be purely idiotic

I agree. Good thing we have more than 1 year. That's the main problem with the skins and its fans: impatience. Here I am making an argument about long-term philosophy and all you can think about is 1 year.

Outside of looking at some relatively meaningless rankings does anyone have any real insight as to what Haslett brings to the table as DC? I'm kinda getting tired of hearing about how much he sucks without hearing any good reasons to back up that thinking.

You said earlier this year that success in a 3-4 is dependent on finding a talented nose tackle -- well we have the best in Albert Haynesworth supposedly, and Brian Orakpo looks like he would succeed as a DeMarcus Ware-type 3-4 OLB. It seems like a natural move to me.

One of the first things Shanahan wanted to do was switch to a 3-4. Haslett talked with Shanahan throughout the season about joining his staff with an aggressive 3-4 scheme that features plenty of blitzes. Orakpo already has one season as a rushing linebacker in a 4-3. He shouldn't have any problem adjusting to a 3-4. It's a good fit.

Without Orakpo and Chris Wilson, we probably wouldn't have the personnel, but with them, it's not an issue.

NT Aubrayo Franklin is a UFA for San Francisco, and while I generally don't like to pay guys coming off career years, salary structure among DL players is so whacky it hardly matters. The highest payed player in the Eagles front seven is...Darren Howard.
