People say we dont have the personell for a 3-4....Dont forget we have Montgomery at 330 lbs that can play NT with Griffin & Haynesworth backing him up...

DE Jarmon, Golston, Alexander, Haynesworth...all 280 lbs(+)
ILB Fletcher, Henson, McIntosh,Blades,
OLB Orakpo, Wilson, Carter

All we need to add is an additional 3-4 OLB, through the draft

I doubt he'll last until the 36th pick. So many teams run the 3-4 and he's the perfect NT. He'll get scooped up somewhere in the late teens or early twenties.

Titans defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch (http://www.nfl.com/players/kylevandenbosch/profile?id=VAN378810), a quality player in a 4-3 defense, points out the 3-4's effectiveness: "We have used 3-4 front principles where I'm outside the offensive tackle as well as defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth (http://www.nfl.com/players/alberthaynesworth/profile?id=HAY746506), and it does cause hesitation from the blockers." Texans offensive tackle Eric Winston (http://www.nfl.com/players/ericwinston/profile?id=WIN622404) backs Vanden Bosch, saying, "The Titans gave us some trouble when they used that 3-4 look to my side with Haynesworth on me and Jevon Kearse (http://www.nfl.com/players/jevonkearse/profile?id=KEA517299) outside of me."

Effectiveness of 3-4 vs. 4-3 is found in the numbers (http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d80d6974b&template=with-video-with-comments&confirm=true)

In the poll two people have voted so far for "other." What is the other? An Okie 5-2? A wide tackle 6? A 46? Just curious.

I've been giving this a lot of thought. Although we don't have the players for a 3-4 IMO I think we should do it. Why? Well we don't have a very good 4-3 defense either. If you're going to do it, then do it now. I know a lot of people say that out defense is good but they haven't played good. They're not the Ravens of old. If we do go to a 3-4 I say draft MT Cody. I'm confident that Shanny-Allen will do what it takes to win in the next few years. For now I'm just going to write off next season as a building year. Honestly how many of these guys are worth it?

yeah, I thought about it more & you're right, there wouldn't be a wholesale personel change needed. We would need LBs as you point out, but that's a need the team went into the last draft with, and still remains today even if we stay in a 4-3. Fletch has 1 year left IMO & the strong side at least needs depth in order to give Rak more DE snaps.

I still hope that we don't go for a 3-4 base, rather Haslett mixes in some 3-4.
