i have been refraining from bashing him, but i will be damned if i will defend him, come back to me in a few years when the franchise has hopefully stabilized and we have a couple good seasons back to back

Seriously. This idiot was hammered and high at the same time. That was a bumbling rant.

Yep...Snyder deserves a sh*t ton of the blame...along with Vinny. It starts at the top, a common phrase that rings true. His intentions are good no doubt, but Im glad that he has faced the fact that his personel decisions, and his other football related opinions are pretty much sh*tty. Im so glad he finally has gotten it...Bruce Allen and Shanny are the right guys to be making football decisions and I think this is the best move ever by Danny Boy....sign the f8cking checks and chill with Tom Cruise thats all he needs to do.....

Exactly...I think some of the other people in this thread have articulated it but when you are the leader of the franchise, as the saying goes...all the mistakes are yours and all the good things are because of someone else. The last 10 years were one massive mistake and that has to fall squarely on Danny's shoulders

Have you ever wanted something so bad that you tried too hard and f' up instead of being patient and taking the proper steps?

We're waiting for him to finally come to the conclusion that for as much as he wants to win, he must also realize there's a process necessary to achieve that goal. Now that the plumber is gone there could be light at the new beginning.

Seeing as this is a defend DS thread:

[/B]....To me it seems more that Vinny thought "Oh we need a WR lets go get Lloyd. Oh we need a Safety lets get Archie" and DS said do we really need them and Vinny said yes we have holes. So DS brought them in.....Blame for Lloyd, Arch and ARE falls on Gibbs. He approved the moves. However even more blame for those is on Al Saunders (Lloyd & ARE) and G. Williams (Arch). All DS & VC did is go get the players the Team President & HC told them to get.

There are several reasons for why things failed in the past here. Ultimately Snyder takes the blame because he's the primary owner, but prior to Gibbs departure, very few of these mistakes were actually of DS or VC's doing. They take blame because they pulled the trigger but they had bad "little birds in their ear" (cough, cough Pepper Rodgers comes to mind).

Going forward, based on the poll and responses, for the most part people are about 90+% on board with Shanahan and Allen. If things wind up going South, I think anyone who supported these moves refrain from DS bashing (this isn't directed at you, just a general statement).

Problem is that his best efforts more often than not hurt the organization...no one is saying he doesn't want to win.. but newsflash, how many owners are there that don't want to win so the whole "he really wants to win" argument is bogus.

Take Lloyd + Archuleta deals for example...how did those help the Redskins in any way? answer, they did not and hurt the organization deeply (still paying salary), no defense of Snyder will be tolerated by me...

Why is Joe Gibbs given a free pass?? Wasn't he the team president when we brought in these free agents?? I just don't see how this is Snyder's fault for giving Gibbs the players he wanted.

Here we go again...the blame game. Who cares at this point.

YES, Dan wants to win and he wants to field a good team. That has never been in doubt. So I am not sure why Skeletor is rambling on about defending Dan Snyder.
The football world and the media would love Dan if he just let the PROFESSIONALS run the team and Dan stop his almost impulsive desire to be involved in acquiring certain players...like the Lance Briggs incident. That was ugly. If the sources and stories are to be believed, the Redskins had formalized an offer made, by all accounts, by Dan Snyder in a bar without having discussed the move with Joe Gibbs or Gregg Williams.
This type behavior and his desire to make media splashes has to stop. It is embarrassing.
My point is Dan had 10 years of running the Redskins 'his way'. Whatever 'his way' is, it failed. Some people are good at sports, others good at business, others are artists...whatever. Dan is not a Football man. It takes a rare skill to be a top GM just like it takes a diffrent rare skill to become a billionaire. Dan please stick to what you are good at. Making money.

People in this town LOVE to blame Danny for everything. Granted, there's not much transparency within the organization, but my personal feeling on the matter is he isn't nearly as involved as he seems. He wants to know what's happening with HIS team, he wants to interview a coach before he pays him millions upon millions of dollars, I have no issues with him having a role in an organization he owns.

I think a lot of the blame that should fall on coaches and vinny has been diverted, often by the media, because he's not a very likable guy.

I could be completely wrong on this due to lack of transparency, but my feeling is the most he does is sign the checks.

Ultimately it stops at the top and fair or not, Snyder will get criticized until and perhaps even when he brings a Super Bowl trophy back to DC. And that's fine, there are plenty of reasons to defend Snyder and there equally as many (if not more) reasons to critique him and question him. Like I've said before though, when people get into "Danny and his butt buddy Vinny" or "Snyder is friends with Jerry Jones!!!" etc. then it's like "Ok, well you may have valid concerns about Snyder but it's going to be tough to take your concerns seriously"

Snyder is involved, but he's not-to the best of my knowledge-intrusive. He's not much more involved than a lot of other owners in the league. And he's a better owner than he was 10 years ago largely because he's surrounded himself with better people
