Coaching Staff update

Well keep in mind that the whole time that Shanahan was OC and I believe the year before that Gibbs was in control of the running game, Shanahan became OC just last year and was the QB coach before that. I doubt that Mike would let Kyle drop off the running game less than his standard if he does have an issue with it. It's hard to say with our personnel right now.. and potentially next year, if our running game would be that hot anyways. If we do switch our primary blocking scheme it may take awhile to develop anyways. They had injuries like we did this year too.. pro bowl TE, 2 guards, starting RB, etc

SFREDSKIN talk to me!!...Tell us what you know about coach Forester. I've never heard of him but he's got a resume filled with experience. I guess if Richard Mann is signed as WR coach, the staff will be just about complete.

Foerster is a decent coach who's only been in SF 2 years, the reason the 49ers OL were horrible was due to injury like Washington and also holes in the line. Their best OL (Staley was out for about 8 games). Frank Gore has had 4 consecutive 1000 yard seasons (2 with Foerster). The ironic thing is that people on this forum were talking about Solari as our next OL coach, well guess were he ended up? SF

Someone else said it (first) and it's pretty wise: an incoming coach w/ something to prove can be a great thing. Haslett, though his resume is unimpressive, seems like that guy. Not sure about Forrester (I'll spell his name like the ugly Subaru :)). What does he have to prove? Hard to say.

Thanks dude!! I'm just hoping he'll be able to take whatever holdovers we'll have from the Bugel line couple them with whatever additions we may make either through the draft or FA and mold them into a formidable group by the time we start playing for real again. He's going to have his work cut out for him but his resume suggest's he should be able to field a good product.

I think he's done a good job in SF with what he inherited on the line, he was probably responsible with his input on drafting Chilo Rachal. It's hard to evaluate after only 2 years. We'll see.

Exhibit A: Gregg Williams.

Why hasn't Brian Billick gotten job interviews? Don't get me wrong, I am not a huge Billick fan, I'm just wondering. But he does have a positive track record which includes a Super Bowl win. Gailey and Carroll have never won Super Bowls. Why does Billick get no love?

In todays NFL the trend is to hire coaches that have never won a Super Bowl since coaches have never been able to win a Super Bowl with two different teams at least as a Head Coach. Hopefully Coach Mike will break that trend and if he doesn't then at least his son should be a great candidate to succeed his father. Only problem is he might be a little young when his father retires (my guess around 35).

He's had the opportunity in his twenty-eight yr. coaching history to work with some very good coaches. The OL is going to be the most closely watched group as far as additions and development, needless to say he obviously has a plan knowing the state of the product we were forced to field last season. I'm anxious to see what he, along with the other additions to the coaching staff will do to improve the team we'll field in 2010.
