One of my good friends lives in Atlanta, she left work yesterday afternoon when the storm hit and got stuck in ungodly traffic until 6AM THIS MORNING at which time she abandoned her car and walked to a restaurant. She just set out walking home from that restaurant this afternoon, because the streets and traffic are no better now.
Insane.
Thats real scary. People who run Atlanta should be ashame, especially when I here stories of kids sleeping on school buses.

I can kinda understand since they're down south and probably aren't prepared for more than an inch or two of snow, but they had plenty of time to plan ahead and get some sort of snow preparedness underway.
Reminds me of snowpocalypse in this area when everyone just bailed on their cars. I drove around about a week after the snow finally cleared up enough to drive around without sliding into a snow drift, and every mile or so was 2 or 3 cars off to the side abandoned. Crazy stuff.

Was Atlanta asleep at the wheel? - CNN.com (http://www.cnn.com/2014/01/29/us/atlanta-traffic-hell-why/index.html?hpt=hp_t1)
that kinda seems weak by the city. 2 inches of snow?

That top picture looks like a scene out of Zombieland, I think it's where we first get introduced to Woody Harrelson.

I'd rather have 30 and snow than this brutal cold is what I was trying to say.
It's the reverse of those long hot streaks in the summer where everything you touch is hot.
It just gets you cold down to the bones and won't go away.

Last couple of nights have been at or below zero here. We still have snow on the ground from two weeks ago. The warmest day we have had has been 25 degrees...it is supposed to be 62 degrees on Sunday though, so maybe the end is in sight....a guy i work with says it is supposed to be a big snowstorm next week like tuesday or wednesday....

It's the freakin' frozen apocalypse.More like "People can't drive safely - calypse" to me in Eastern NC. Drove around to see how bad it really was, was tailgated by a huge SUV and a huge pickup with after-market taller suspension added on, on roads covered with ice. Luckily didn't result in an accident, but no guarantees on the idiots after I turned off the roads they were on. Especially the pickup that started swerving back and forth after he accelerated by me (I think he did that deliberately for fun), dude will have been lucky to get home without hitting something.

We have any posters from down south between Texas and NC? I hear you guys got nailed with some snow.
In southern MS we got more nailed with ice than with snow. Tons of it, a sleetocalypse. We didn't get more than a couple of inches but it is almost all ice.
We have no snow plows or salt trucks. No one has snow tires. Hence the freak out and the shut down.
Usually the rare snow here melts away within hours, hence the lack of equipment. For the first time in 20 years, we're winter screwed.
