Monkeydad 01-06-2010, 11:03 AM Campbell showed toughness and leadership in practice and gameday (ask Malcolm Kelly about extra workouts with Jason). He took more hits and punishment than anyone else (except maybe London Fletcher delivering the punishment). Despite the season's swirling down the toilet bowl around him, he still played hard and tried to carry the team to victories even if others had given up. He's earned a LOT of respect from me.
Portis used to be my favorite Redskin but with his recent lack of heart, effort and production, he's no longer a leader and sometimes not even tolerable any more. After Sean Taylor's death, Clinton was a real leader who rallied the team and brought energy to the field to help that big run to the playoffs. Since then, he's becoming too much like Iverson, wanting to be the top guy on game day but do his own thing while the rest of the team is working hard and preparing.
Sorry, CP, I can't support you this time. Everything Jason said was true and needed to be said.
I just hope the decision to keep the real leader is made. I thank Portis for all of his past contributions and memories as the #2 all-time Redskins rusher, but it's time for him to move on or be moved. I doubt Shanahan will tolerate his running to Snyder and selfishness over what's best for the team, so maybe it's a great thing that this blew up right now as the new staff is coming in. Early enough to fix the problem (Portis) and make the decision to keep the real leader (Campbell). In my recaps of JC's stats, I have been saying for a month or so that I've been noticing some real leadership developing. This situation is proving it. Never before has he stood up to attacks and yet, he's doing it now in a way that shows he wants what's best for the entire team. I WAS speaking of on-field leadership before, but now we're seeing he can be a leader off-the-field as well.
Monkeydad 01-06-2010, 11:07 AM Brian Mitchell dropped in not too long ago. Funny but his post was kinda glossed over by everyone. I noticed it myself just recently.

Gary Clark has posted here, but for some reason he said he was Ricky Sanders, but I confirmed it was Clark.
There are others that probably prefer to not be called out. I'm not sure about CP though. He very well could be here. I've exchanged emails with him, or someone identifiying himself as CP with no real reason to lie about such a thing, so who knows.
That's hilarious about Clark.
We probably didn't believe it was really BMitch. I noticed, but doubted it. So it was REALLY him?
over the mountain 01-06-2010, 11:14 AM if CP wasnt injured he would have put up close to 1500 yds rushing like he always does.
man, a guy gets injured 1 year and all of the sudden he's a cancer? portis is a top back in this league and the least of our problems.
(j/k but this is the last time i'll say this then i'll drop it . . .anyone who is now calling portis a cancer, not a team player or expendable, please go read your posts this past offseason where anyone posting what you guys are posting now got blasted)

Terrell Owens, Randy Moss and others have been able to put up top numbers and still be a negative to their teams by their attitudes and actions. Numbers are great, but he needs to be putting them up for the team, not his own benefit and legacy.
Monkeydad 01-06-2010, 11:18 AM Portis must have an account here.
The one vote is probably one of the posters who hate Jason Campbell no matter what he does. :pffff:
I have a few guesses.

Pretty sure it was B-Mitch. Who knows, could be someone from his show, but I'm guessing it was him.
freddyg12 01-06-2010, 11:19 AM Rather than cutting CP I would like to see him come back & be truly humbled & be part of the team. I know that's asking for a lot of maturation in a short time, but imagine this scenario:
Betts rehabs his knee & looks surprisingly quick. Shanny says before camp that the starting RB job is an open competition between CP, BEtts, and maybe Ganther & a rookie (don't see Rock in that mix at least as a starter).
Betts or somebody else wins the starting job. CP either becomes the 3rd down back behind Betts or the 3rd string behind Betts & a new starter. He either accepts his role & becomes a valuable contributor picking up blitzes & catching dump offs, or he complains, skips practice, talks about teamates & Shanny Keyshawns him.
Like Matt Mosely said on espn.com, how Shanny deals w/CP will indicate a lot about how much control of the team he has from the danny. If he's not cut from day 1, I expect there to be a serious confrontation between CP & Shanny/mgmt. at some point.

From how it was worded I got the vibe it was someone from bmitch's radio show just doing some promo...who knows though.
hilarious about G. Clark

Alridge possibly.
Portis could be a GREAT 3rd down back in either rushing or passing situations where he needs to block. We just need to make sure his feud with Campbell is over so he doesn't "miss" blocks on purpose. Sadly, I could now see him pulling that.
