Brian Cushing, Houston Texans, NFL defensive rookie of year - NFL - SI.com (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/football/nfl/01/05/cushing.ap/index.html)
Safety from Buffalo was in (distant) second with 6 votes. No word on how many Orakpo may have gotten.

if i had a vote id give it to cushing too even thoo ive only seen a handful of texans games this year, cushings stats have been solid every game.
orakpo had some really great games (4 sacks v raiders) but some games he didnt really have an impact plus he got targeted and beat a good bit in coverage.
sucks, i really thought orakpo had a chance when he hit 11 sacks with 3 or so games to go.

I'm not complaining about that, I agree that Orakpo wasn't always consistent all year and was targeted at times. Besides Orakpo is going to the pro bowl so thats just as good as getting DROY to me.

Cushing deserved it. Orakpo had a great season, but Cushing was amazing.

I can admit this. Cushing was a monster.
Orakpo going to the Pro Bowl is his deserved reward.
Now if we could just get Fletcher there, I'd have no complaints.

I had a pretty good feeling about Matthews. If I remember right a lot of us thought Cushing would be injury-prone and could be on steroids. He's proven he was worth the pick. He had a great year.

Orakpo only got 1 vote.
I have no problem with Cushing getting this award; he had a great year.

Cushing is deserving, although I'm surprised he got 39 out of 50 votes.
