What makes everyone think that Colt McCoy and Bradford would be any better then Campbell or Brennan? Neither of these guys seem all that great of QB's to me that we should use our first round draft pick on them. We need offensive line and a great receiver. I honestly think the year we get rid of Campbell he will make the playoffs with another team.
What makes you so sure that a guy that you've never seen take an NFL snap will be a bust?

My new dream draft day is VERY Active. San Francisco trades up and gives us their 2 first rounders for our number 4 to get Eric Berry. We pick up Bruce Campbell OT Maryland and with the 13th pick take Mike Iupati Gaurd Idaho with the 17th. In the second round we take Colt McCoy. and in the fourth we take LeGarrette Blount RB Oregon. Hopefully his character issues causes him to fall that far or maybe trade up to get him.

I like the scenario, but with 13th pick I take CJ Spiller, and like Dirtbag359 I like Sergio Render in the 4th..

Well Shanahan doesn't pick first round RBs...it looks like it is either going to be a QB or an offensive lineman. I hope that we take a lineman and honestly I feel like this is a win-win scenario (provided the right lineman is there at #4), here's the method to my madness:
- We need a franchise tackle, and you typically find that in the 1st round (Jake Long, Ryan Clady, Jordan Gross, Joe Thomas, D'Bricksaw Ferguson, etc., etc.). A Russell Okung will be able to start right away.
- I know that this is not the best reason, but by picking a tackle (instead of the sexy pick of a QB), Shanahan and Allen can take a huge step in burying the notion that Snyder is meddling into the operations of the team.
- Shanahan's last first round pick? Ryan Clady.
- By building the offensive line and getting a better running game, Shanahan can make Campbell successful.
- If Campbell is not successful, then he can draft a first-round QB in 2011. The difference between drafting a QB in 2010 vs. 2011, is that a 2011 rookie QB will come into an established line and running game (see Mark Sanchez) and could be successful right away.

Question for everyone.
What if we pick up Marcus McNeill in FA. What do we do with the 4th pick then? (Assuming that we don't trade down). Do we still go with Okung if available or do we pick up Bradford. I would go with Okung to immediately improve our oline. Then go with Spiller in the 2nd or J. Dwyer. What do you guys think?

After reading his scouting report and the analysis of other people here, i don't think there's any way we take okung. He just doesn't fit Shanahan's zone blocking system. However, i do think there is a strong possibility that both Okung and Bradford are still on the board when we pick - which greatly increases the likelyhood that another team will want to trade up to our slot.
There appear to be a plethora of good (but not great) zone-blocking linemen in the draft, so if we can trade down and get more picks in rounds 1-3, we should be in excellent position. I like dhs2982's suggestion of trading with san francisco. I would LOVE to work out something with new england. while they generally arent one to trade UP in the draft, if memory serves me they have about 4 or 5 2nd round picks in the draft... so they definitely have the ammunition should they want to trade up for an elite defensive player.

For anyone calling for RBs, if Shanny stays the way he was with Denver, we won't be picking too many backs in the early rounds...

Not so sure, we'll get 2 first rounders for the 4th pick. Maybe a 1st rounder and either a second or third.

Based off of the draft value chart its is 1800 (skins) vs. 2100 (49ers), the difference is 300 points or a late second round in the skins favor. Carolina traded their 1st to the 49ers for a second round pick in 2009. So it can definately happen... Who is to say, the 49ers may see Berry as the next Ed Reed or Ronnie Lott. Or they may want a new QB.
