I've watched several Denver games this season, and Champ has NOT played well consistently. I have seen him make some excellent plays, but have seen him get beaten several times, also. Mostly, teams have not been throwing at him because of his reputation. BUT MARVIN LEWIS KNEW BETTER!!!! He went right after him.

Chad Johnson mopped up the field with Bailey. I kept thinking about the guys that were talking about how great Denver made out in that trade LOL!!!

The only "good" play I saw Bailey turn in was the interception. And regardless of what Madden said about the play to try to recover after all the accolades he had been giving Bailey, EVEN THAT was bad coverage. Clearly, Chad was in front of Champ, and completely open on the crossing pattern. All Champ was doing was leading from behind so he could make the tackle AFTER Chad caught the ball. But lucky, lucky Champ - Palmer led Chad so much he could not even get a fingertip on the ball when he dived forward. Just a very bad pass. Anything catchable, and it was a first down - AGAIN.

And for those of you that said "one bad game", you obviously have not seen all of Denver's games. As I said, he has looked very good at times, but has been totally inconsistent. JUST LIKE LAST YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great Trade, Gibbs!

lets not forget, we gave up a second round choice, and they dont need a running back, they did win that trade

They won the trade, I agree with Bergman on that Point alone.

I think both sides have to be very happy with what they got out of the deal, thats for sure. I'm very happy with Portis and Springs and I dont really miss Champ at all.

With the 2nd rounder, they may have won more, but neither team lost in the deal.

They have a great system that breeds RB's, but I think Portis is proving that he is great, regardless of the system. And Springs seems to be doing fine as the Redskins #24, not to mention how Fred "tough as nails" Smoot has stepped up on the other side!

what about the vikings and their system? robert smith, michael bennet, then moe williams, mewelde moore, and onterio smith...hmmm moore is a rookie 4th rounder and hes got a 5 ypc average, and smith did the same last year...also a 4th rounder...yet they never get mentioned

Minnisota also has other weapons including one of the best wide reciever/quarterback tandems in the league so the other can't can't put 8 or 9 men in the box and Minnisota has a good offensive line.

What about the Gibbs/Bugel system? Let's see they won Super Bowls with John Riggins, Timmy Smith, Earnest Byner...

#1 - It looks like it will be a GREAT trade for the Redskins. Do you really think our D would be decidedly better with Champ??? Remember, we play the Giants twice, and he has NEVER been able to stop their WR's from scoring TD's.

#2 - It is complete folley to say who "won" the trade. NO ONE will know that until the 6 months to 2 years from now. All we can say so far is that it appears to have helped the Redskins, and it "may" have helped Denver. Sure, after a couple failures, they found a back that looks like he may be consistent. Wait to see if anyone gets to 1500 yards and is able to keep the job. a lot of teams to go yet, and you can be sure they are preparing for Droughns' running style, just as they did for Griffin. Don't be so quick to declare him the next TD. Were any of you around for Timmy Smith's record-setting performance in the Super Bowl? He looked fantastic. Mighty short career after that.

#3 - As far as Denver being able to put "anyone" in that backfield, those days are gone. They left with Alex Gibbs. Don't be surprised to see Droughns' production drop dramatically in the next few weeks.
