I think this whole list means nothing without a cap. Everybody is a restricted free agent. They can negotiate with their respective teams and no one else. The pllayer that will come available are player like Clinton Portis, that are over payed. Not to say we will cut CP, but it would make sense. Players like Randy Thomas, that have huge cap numbers keeping their jobs will be cut. With that said maybe their will be some player that have something to offer us that will be released.

If there is an uncapped year a player would need 6 seasons of NFL service time to be eligible to be an Unrestricted Free Agent as opposed to the 4 needed now. Plus teams would be given an extra transition tag and the top 8 playoff teams could only sign a FA to replace a lost player. There will actually be more restrictions on free agency in an uncapped year than there are now.

I would love to see the skins take a chance on David Carr.

You and me both. He throws one of the prettiest balls I've ever seen. And he has an absolute cannon for a arm. However, he reminds of Jeff George too, another QB with remarkable physical abilities devoid of any true leadership qualities.

Uncapped NFL will be interesting especially for Redskin fans. If the system is allowed to stay more teams will be able to keep good players, just like the old days where top guys would end their careers playing for one or two teams. Teams like the Cardinals will sell high draft picks for cash considerations and teams will be forced to truly build through the draft. I mean personally I love the element of parity but I'm a Redskin fan first, and ironically if anything teams will have to be smarter about putting teams together.

He'd be great, though if there is no cap he won't be an unrestricted free agent anyway

That's the problem with that whole list. The way it's looking right now, there will be no cap and that list will include a whole lot more restricted free agents.

If the NFL goes capless, it's going to put a big premium on being able to draft well...more than there is right now. I'm really hoping that Bruce Allen has some better drafts than Cerrato.

I will say, that I never thought Vinny was THAT terrible in the draft, but I certainly don't believe he was very good.

I just want to say that in the rare case that we do trade Cooley I want it to be a 3 team trade with the Chargers. We get Marcus McNeil, team X gets Chris Cooley, San Diego get's a 2nd round pick from Team X.
