I saw it on Espn.news. I couldn't believe that the guy got out of the hospital after only the night. He was just laying there twiching. Usally I am against calling what happens on the feild/ice a crime. But if there was ever a case that was it. Whoever the guy was who swung his stick like that shouldn't be any where near a hockey game for the rest of his born days. Plus he should serve some time in a cage.

I saw on yesterday morning SportsCenter a story about the goalie that has his corodaded sp (jugular) artry cut back in 89. Man talk about scary. There was an instant pool of blood. It was like you could just see him dying and could not do anything about it. Luckly he lived. He had 300 stitches in about 90 minutes. He returned play a few weeks ago. I bet he had some bad nightmares after that.

I remember when that happened, I was horrified. Amazing that he lived! He literally had his throat slit from the blade. I think shortly after is when they designed that flap on goalie masks to cover the throat area.

Don't watch it myself! Been to a couple of minor league games years ago. Much better in person.
Changes needed:
Make the puck as big as a kick ball! You remember the fun you used to have playing kickball, don't you? Because you could see it!
Do away with the Goalie! I say it smacks too much like Goaltending in Basketball!
Take away all weapons! Remove the stick! Make the players kick it or dribble it!
Make the goal as small as your screen you are looking at!
Put all the players in Tutus & Ice skates with toepicks, or at least the silly costumes Ice Skaters wear! Then, if Hockey doesn't work out, they could be part of the Dance troupe with Ice Folleys!
Divide the game into halves! Periods sound like something feminine!
Do away with so many substitution of lines. Figure out how to stop the plays, like in football. Incomplete pass, throwing it out of bounds, intentional grounding, create a natural stop/start during each series.
Have the Zamboni clear one end, when the action is in the other end, kind of like snow-blowers during snowy FB games!
Make the goals out of break-away wood, so people don't get injured banging pipes!

haha, I'd love to see the Zamboni run ins during a quick break away with the rubber bouncy ball!

That hockey goalie everyone is referring to played for the Caps. Pete Peters, I believe. That was a harrowing night. I later heard that if the medical personnel were on the other side of the arena where Peters was, he would have bled to death right there on the ice. And you're right, the other NHL goalies started wearing neck protecters as a direct result. But as I recall, it was a completely freak accident, nothing deliberate about it.

It was Clint Malarchuk, a onetime Caps goalie, though that incident occurred when he was with the Sabres

Oops. I knew it was one of those two. My memory's getting worse as I get older.
