Sounds good...and have him bring Rey Rey over too :)

We already have the best defensive coordinator in the league, where's Gtripp at when i need a backer.

He went on to say he and Slowick are interested in installing either a 3-4 or 3-4 hybrid. He then went on to mention that both were either looking into or talking with Zimmer about being apart of their team. .
I think our players would fit better with a hybrid offense than a straight 3-4. Base 4-3 (AC, AH, Grif, Rak on DL w/ Rocky, Fletch and Blades with a 3-3-5 nickel (AH, Griffen and Jarmon on line and Rak, Fletcher and Rocky at LB). It would be a different way to rotate players and it would be difficult for offenses to prepare for.

Hey Shanny or Allen, I know your all over these boards now.... :)

Maybe look into Mike Leach as QB coach. Ya know him, he's the recently fired HC of Texas Tech. Set all kinds of records with his passing offenses. Might be nice to have on the staff as a QB coach who can add a little flavour to you WCO.

Most likely he'll get a HCing gig at some college wanting to get their program out there.

Maybe Leach would lock Snyder in a closet.

I hope that you guys are kidding about Leach. His offense is nothing more than another version of the Fun n gun. Will not work at this level.

I was joking. I only mentioned it cause usually someone, today it was me :) will throw a name of someone who was cut or fired as a "should we pick them up".

I'd rather Shanny picks up whoever he deems worthy to work with him or he gets a long with instead of hiring him and making him work with coach's others want him to work with.

Only if we can get him for the vets minimum.

I've got a friend that works with the league on the business side who is a HUGE Raiders fan and knows more about football than almost anyone else I know. I asked him for a scouting report on Shanahallen.

He e-mailed me this morning with the following:
I loved Bruce Allen..... did a great job with the draft as well as signing free agents. Also a big plus.... knows how to work the cap. From what I remember the Raiders always seemed to be on the brink of going over, but he would get them under while still signing quality free agents.

As for Shanahan he is obviously a great offensive mind. He likes a mobile qb and loves to have a several running backs at his disposal. The one concern I have is his defenses were pretty bad the last few years in Denver.....they tried a lot of different defensive coordinators and personal, but nothing seemed to work. Overall if you do hire him I think its going to be a good move. He's well respected, has the rings, and is a proven winner.

Nothing groundbreaking although I was pleasantly surprised to read his assessment of Allen being so positive. I don't think the defensive issues that Shanny had in Denver will necessarily replicate here because we've got a solid core on that side of the ball..

for what it's worth, my father-in-law worked in the NFL for 30 years... he knows bruce and synder (and pretty much anyone that's been in the NFL for years) and he thinks that the bruce allen hire is great... says he's a stand-up guy, very smart, very personable, an excellent GM -- the kind of guy you want to work for/with...

he's not too sure about shanahan being a good choice for us as a coach and thinks allen and shanny working together is "strange"... i'm trying to get him to see if he can find out some inside info from old sources... "i'm retired" is all i've got at this point...
