Poor Zorn, I truly feel bad for him, but he gave Snyder the ultimate F you in front of a national audience... maybe for the way he has been treated this year!
i really don't get this whole thing on why people think zorn called that play in order to give snyder an FU. too me that would just be stupid on zorns part.zorn needs to show that he is capable of leading a team and has the ability to be a head coach in this league if he ever wants to be a head coach again. zorn had a trick play before half time in the first game against ny, this was nothing more than another attempt to get back in the game by trying to fool the g-men once again. this attempt just failed miserably.

I don't think he did. I think he was told it was his gig again so Allen could make his own decision and be able to say he gave him the last few games to show what he could do with the team. I think Zorn just likes to incorporate 1 or 2 trick plays in a game and he likes to try some of the old school stuff that nobody has seen since forever.
I'm not making excuses for Zorn. The game plan, plays, and timing of those plays screamed Zorn. It did not look anything like Sherm Lewis. It looked like we time traveled back to prior to our break and Zorn in control of everything. Which is why I believe Allen may have given control back to Zorn in order to say he evaluated Zorn on last yrs performance, this yrs performance prior to the break, and the last 4 games and decided Zorn was not getting it done in order to cut him.
Sherm was still up in the booth so unless he was sitting there doing nothing I doubt Zorn was calling the plays again. Plus anytime they showed Zorn you didn't see him calling plays.

Here's the scoop from SS who texted me:
-Shanahan was not in DC today
-Terms of a deal have been in place for a while now, the holdup was he didn't want Vinny in a decision making role, he doesn't want to take over during the season, and he wants to wait until after the Texans season is over to bring his son Kyle with him.
-He's also waiting to see what will happen with Dallas, but his focus has shifted to the Skins now.
-Skins are also interested in bringing in Doug Williams but it probably wouldn't happen until March, if it does at all. DW might not be as interested as the Skins though, thinks he may have more upside with Tampa.
thanks for the update and thanks to SS too.
merry christmas to all ..

In that situation I think Lewis isn't involved. That had the makings of a Danny Smith call that Zorn gave the go-ahead to. Smith reportedly has a reputation for drawing up insane plays at practice. Regardless, it's a moment that we won't soon forget as Redskins fans...unfortunately.
