WaldSkins 12-17-2009, 10:31 PM We have no sixth. The price for Jason Taylor was a 2nd in 2009 and a 6th in 2010.
Skins trade for Dolphins' Taylor after Daniels goes down - NFL - ESPN (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3497625)
We don't have a 3rd rounder either
Lotus 12-17-2009, 10:36 PM Has he ever drafted a quarterback, in the first round?
No QB's. He has taken a WR (Clayton) and RB (Williams) in the first round, so he is not averse to taking offensive skill players. He has drafted a kicker, Janikowski, in the first round, although that may have been meddling by Undead Al Davis.
2008 Aqib Talib CB
2007 Gaines Adams DE
2006 Davin Joseph G
2005 Cadillac Williams RB
2004 Michael Clayton WR
2003 Nnamdi Asomugha CB

It includes who he might hire as coach, Both good and bad Draft picks, FA signings and trades, players who should be worried about his arrival, and finally, a first stab at a potential Mock Draft.

awesome link, good points, thanks
BigHairedAristocrat 12-17-2009, 11:13 PM Fyi Allen was NOT GM in Oakland. al Davis made all major decisions and Allen handled contracts and other technical issues.

Good link, good read. He called Larry Michael a "Snyderette!" LMAO.
A buddy of mine is a video editor over at Comcast, and he text me today that one of the guys over there had inside info that Shanahan is a "done deal." Whatever that's worth.
I'd probably rather have Gruden, but I won't be mad at a two time Super Bowl winner coming in to take over coaching (hopefully with his son) with a true GM shopping for the groceries.
mlmdub130 12-17-2009, 11:20 PM bha would you have been happy with anyone?
tryfuhl 12-17-2009, 11:24 PM I don't know, I thought someone said or it was mentioned on ESPN980 that after the Allen announcement that there would be another major announcement with in the week. It could not be talked about now cause of privacy contractual issues.
Could it be that Gruden will be named after the Mon. night game? So they don't have issues with Gruden's ESPN contract, announcing, and being the new HC?
Could it be Shanahan will be announced to have been picked up by the team in some capacity maybe president for now so no one gets to talk with him, then after the year named HC also? Zorn let go and Sherm Lewis finishing out the year as interim HC?
I think that someone else would get interim HC; that'd bring Lewis down to the field, probably Meidt too. Plus media duties, etc
tryfuhl 12-17-2009, 11:28 PM Jason Taylor was a NEED, we lost 2 DE's before the season started and at the time he was a double digit sack man. noone saw him coming here and laying an egg. Would you rather nothing was done at all??
The potential was exciting but we gave far too much to get him... 8m a year, a 2nd.. and a 6th.. for a potential 2 years. We were looking to replace Daniels who is a completely different type of DE than Taylor, so it was not an appropriate choice. I know I was hoping that it would work out and thought less about that at the time, but yeah.
