I agree basically, and at the time certainly supported it, BUT, also felt the deal was an unfavorable one. I think it is possible that possibly someone with better interpersonal skills could have addressed it differently and in a way that I would have supported just as much as bringing in the guy from Miami.

It was supply and demand, look at how the Giants were done by SD. They knew manning wanted them and vice versa. But how bad did they want him? they played to it just like Miami played to the notion that we needed a DE and they didnt want Taylor at that time.

Mike-I suppose. Kyle-no.

By the way, if you guys here any talk about Cerrato being a "consultant" to the team. Don't get worked up over it. He has no role with the team. It's just that he's still under a contract for a few more months so that's his new title. Nothing to worry about

Thats what they told Zorn when Sherm came in :D

I'm really not arguing that point. I do say it's possible someone else may have handled it a different way, but if Taylor had come in played healthy and we saw the output we all hoped for than hindsight wouldn't be involved. My point on VC's out and Allen in, mainly is the atmosphere/attitude change. VCs presence, i believe, fostered a how do i protect myself mentality; BAs presence, from basic initial look, seems like it will foster a team first, leave the excuses at the door, mentality.

And it represents a first step away from a DS centric operation. BA sounds like Redskins first DS second. Not once did he make a "kissup" comment to DS. He came in with a professional tone that hey I am here to do my job, and build the Redskin team. Even when he praised it was the ownership group, not "I want to thank DS". Heck its one press conference, who knows but it sounded right by my ears.

I just re-watched Allen's conference, and what struck me was how much he reminded me of his father's famous Dallas speech: 53 men working together cannot be beat. His starting line and several other times echoed that thought. I think this is a good day.

DS looked downright uncomfortable in front of the press. Also interesting no SB trophies on display today. I actually liked that. Let's go earn some that he can really display.

Exactly. It's time to move forward. There have been many bad decisions in the last 10 years and we have earned next to nothing. I'm tired of only finding joy in my favorite team from what was done over a decade ago. This is the best sign I have seen from Danny since he hired Joe Gibbs. But even that was trying to grasp something from the past that didn't belong to him. Hiring a GM, regardless of who his father was, is the biggest step into the future this franchise has taken since Snyder became owner. I fully expect Allen to hire top professional personell and take this organization to the top. This decision shows maturity on Snyders part. Allen has admitted mistakes in the past with the draft and I expect him to hire and lean more on the professionals he hires. My hope has always been that Snyder would stop treating the Redskins as his own personal toy to play with, and turn this back into the professional winning organization we were so proud of. This is, at least, a step in that direction.

Jason Taylor was a NEED, we lost 2 DE's before the season started and at the time he was a double digit sack man. noone saw him coming here and laying an egg. Would you rather nothing was done at all??

I....guess I was put on blast, huh. I never said anything negative about the Jason Taylor trade other then to say I was not sure if we had a 6th rounder or not. I thought the whole deal was done and over, but someone recently mentioned we do not have our 6th round due to the trade. As far as I know it has not been confirmed nor denied.

So.....thanks for blasting me. However I did feel we needed him and was exited we got him, at the time, but also felt we gave up a lot to get him. I just figured he would tear the place up and we would be signing him to a longer contract. Instead we got hosed and not only did Miami get two picks out of the deal but with a one year seperation they got their man back and kept our two picks. We were railroaded. The NFL should have stepped in and either had Miami give one pick back or compensated us with a draft pick.

1. Im not complaining, im just showing his drafts where as all i hear on here is that most of us want to build the team through the draft and not high priced free agents. From what you posted we are right back at square one in that regard.
2. Yeah he -Allen-drafts a buttload of Olinemen, have any of them been anything other than stopgap players? for how many he brought in there are many busts on these lists.
3. I never blamed VC for what happened on the field, he has brought in some good young talent in the past drafts that have started to show why they were selected. RAK,DT and FD are coming on strong and you could find many others that have made solid contributions to this team. FA's like Carter,AH and Fletcher have been awesome for us as well. Yeah there were hits and misses but you have to look at the overall product.

No we arent starting off at square one. I am not saying we need to overpay for over the hill players anymore, but you do need to add a few pieces through free agency and we have a owner who will spend money.

Ok since your not complaining who would have you liked to see Danny Boy bring in to be the GM?

We have no sixth. The price for Jason Taylor was a 2nd in 2009 and a 6th in 2010.

So Shanahan (Mike and/or Kyle) is close to happening allegedly. One thing I wonder is this. Mike Shanahan wouldn't come here now as head coach because Zorn is still here and they wouldn't (I don't think) fire him with just three weeks to go. But...they could hire him now just as President. And then Head Coach later?

Yea, I guess MS said he wouldn't take over mid season. Doesn't mean they couldn't hire him for 2010 or talk to him about next year. I'm not sure they wouldn't just cut Zorn go and name an interim. No way you'd want it to be leaked that you have a new coach for next year when Zorn is still under contract.

I would guess Mike. No way they'd give it to Kyle, right?
