Well he at least is a proven offensive coordinator, not something you could say about Zorn when he was hired.
Either way, it's more likely that he will follow his dad wherever he goes. Whether it's here or Dallas. Kyle Shanahan was an assistant coach under Allen, so that's something to keep in mind.
I'm still a little shocked over all this news though. I mean I knew we were going to name someone General Manager soon, and I knew Allen was a finalist. But I was certain it would end up being someone else and I didn't think it would happen so quickly. Crazy day
Does JLC's Gruden story have any truth to it, or is JLC making things up again?

So Shanahan (Mike and/or Kyle) is close to happening allegedly. One thing I wonder is this. Mike Shanahan wouldn't come here now as head coach because Zorn is still here and they wouldn't (I don't think) fire him with just three weeks to go. But...they could hire him now just as President. And then Head Coach later?
I don't know, I thought someone said or it was mentioned on ESPN980 that after the Allen announcement that there would be another major announcement with in the week. It could not be talked about now cause of privacy contractual issues.
Could it be that Gruden will be named after the Mon. night game? So they don't have issues with Gruden's ESPN contract, announcing, and being the new HC?
Could it be Shanahan will be announced to have been picked up by the team in some capacity maybe president for now so no one gets to talk with him, then after the year named HC also? Zorn let go and Sherm Lewis finishing out the year as interim HC?

Why is it that some people have to complain about everything? Vinny is gone, and this hiring is a start in the right direction. I could care less of what Bruce Allen's draft history is, this is a new start for him. When he was in Tampa he had a owner who didnt like to spend money for players, that is not a problem here.
We all should be happy that Danny boy has decided to take a new approach on how to run this team. This is want all Redskins fans wanted to see, and it came true. I know we havent had a good run organization since he took over as owner, so hopefully this is a start in the right directions. As Redskins fans all we have is hope.
1. Im not complaining, im just showing his drafts where as all i hear on here is that most of us want to build the team through the draft and not high priced free agents. From what you posted we are right back at square one in that regard.
2. Yeah he -Allen-drafts a buttload of Olinemen, have any of them been anything other than stopgap players? for how many he brought in there are many busts on these lists.
3. I never blamed VC for what happened on the field, he has brought in some good young talent in the past drafts that have started to show why they were selected. RAK,DT and FD are coming on strong and you could find many others that have made solid contributions to this team. FA's like Carter,AH and Fletcher have been awesome for us as well. Yeah there were hits and misses but you have to look at the overall product.

Mike-I suppose. Kyle-no.
By the way, if you guys here any talk about Cerrato being a "consultant" to the team. Don't get worked up over it. He has no role with the team. It's just that he's still under a contract for a few more months so that's his new title. Nothing to worry about

IMO this season was all on the HC, if we had a coach that played to our player's strengths we would be much better as a team.

I just re-watched Allen's conference, and what struck me was how much he reminded me of his father's famous Dallas speech: 53 men working together cannot be beat. His starting line and several other times echoed that thought. I think this is a good day.
DS looked downright uncomfortable in front of the press. Also interesting no SB trophies on display today. I actually liked that. Let's go earn some that he can really display.

It needs to be a combination of both. Drafting for need for the sake of drafting for need is just as bad as always drafting BPA. Based on Allens history though the first thing thats going to get fixed is the OL. Personally I wish I had some sort of alternate universe machine that would show me what Vinny would have done though I suspect it would have been something like RB, LB or QB, RB with our first two picks. We would have been lucky if Cerrato even considered an OL.
No, the Vinny would have given up the 1st and 2nd rounder to move up in the draft 2 or 3 spots and picked up a QB. The 3rd was used on Jarmin who will be another great player like Orakpo. The 4th round would have been a Free Safety. The 5th round would have been a LB. I'm not sure if we have a 6th round or not anymore in regards to the Jason Taylor issue and the 7th round would have been a RB. Vinny would have invited 3 OL who were not drafted to show up in the summer and most likely cut them causing the team to look into FA. :)

Jason Taylor was a NEED, we lost 2 DE's before the season started and at the time he was a double digit sack man. noone saw him coming here and laying an egg. Would you rather nothing was done at all??

Well then you will like this quote from the post press conference press conference (from Terls blog)
On what [Bruce Allen] looks for in a head coach:
"You answered your own question – it's the leader of the team. He's the leader of the organization throughout sports. The Dodgers were better when they got a better manager. Period."

I agree basically, and at the time certainly supported it, BUT, also felt the deal was an unfavorable one. I think it is possible that possibly someone with better interpersonal skills could have addressed it differently and in a way that I would have supported just as much as bringing in the guy from Miami.
