I will say that Allen wouldnt've been my first choice for GM, but from what people like Bethard, Jaws, and Marty are saying about him makes me feel a little better. The key is that we give Allen as much time as we gave Vinny (a decade) and then we judge Allen's personel moves but I'm not going to full out say he's the wrong guy because he might be a pretty damn good GM.

Right now, i see Snyder manipulating the fans into thinking something's changed when, really, nothing has. The dysfunctional front office structure remains the same - only the players have changed. If you didn't get a chance to listen to Mike Wilbon on the Tony Kornheiser show this morning, then you should.

A character in Snatch said, "Don't piss in my bucket and tell me its raining." By all apperanaces, that's exactly whats happening here. Snyder fired one yes-man and hired another. Allen has never been a "real" GM before. He's only been a yes man. If Snyder wanted a real GM, he wouldnt have hired Allen. Snyder has lead a dysfunctional franchise for so long, he doesn't deserve us to suddenly beleive he has changed now. He doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt.

Time will tell, but i'm remaining skeptical until proven otherwise.

How can you say Allen is not a real GM? Allen has respect around the league and has been the GM on 2 different teams. He is not a yes man.

What is Clark Judge smoking? Or is he a Vinny's butt buddy?

We all need to realize that its not that BA is the new GM, its that VC is no longer the GM . Lets be honest, VC was probably going to ignore the OL again this upcoming draft, so right there, we have hope and progress.

You know, people are saying Bruce Allen wouldn't have been their first choice. I really don't know what that means, actually. What other viable choices were available? The truly coveted GMs are gainfully employed and still with their respective organizations as far as I'm concerned. And the Redskins never suffered from having a bad GM; We suffered from not having a GM at all! So in that regard, this is an excellent football move/decision. I really don't view this in terms of multiple choices available to Snyder. It was, however, a great personnel move.

Why can't we leave it at that. I guess if we looked at this in terms of draft picks, one by one, you could come to some conclusion about Allen. But what GM has that type of autonomy? Where the GM has absolute control with no input on who's drafted and who's not? That's not how the NFL operates, I don't care who the GM is.

Anyway, this is damn good day to be a Redskin fan. I think Allen has a strong sense of Redskins tradition, the city, he's fiery and passionate, and he fully understands what's at stake here. Now let's get Jason Campbell signed and kick some Giant ass on Monday night.

President Joe Gibbs, EVP/GM Bruce Allen, Director of Personnel Doug Williams, HC Todd Bowles? Just saying...
if my memory serves me right, didnt he get a league suspension for drugs?

I guess that's fine if you buy into this theory that Snyder calls all the shots and is the primary decision maker.

Personally I don't buy in to that.

Early on I think he was probably too involved, but I think especially over the last 2 years he took a backseat to Vinny. Did he have input? Yeah no doubt. But was he the backroom GM pulling all the strings and Vinny was just doing what he was told? Doubt it.
