Trample the Elderly 12-17-2009, 03:01 PM Allen had a reputation of drafting OL, early and often.
Lol, this is our Super Bowl, at least for the foreseeable future.
Fuck yeah!
CRedskinsRule 12-17-2009, 03:01 PM Right now, i see Snyder manipulating the fans into thinking something's changed when, really, nothing has. The dysfunctional front office structure remains the same - only the players have changed. If you didn't get a chance to listen to Mike Wilbon on the Tony Kornheiser show this morning, then you should.
A character in Snatch said, "Don't piss in my bucket and tell me its raining." By all apperanaces, that's exactly whats happening here. Snyder fired one yes-man and hired another. Allen has never been a "real" GM before. He's only been a yes man. If Snyder wanted a real GM, he wouldnt have hired Allen. Snyder has lead a dysfunctional franchise for so long, he doesn't deserve us to suddenly beleive he has changed now. He doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt.
Time will tell, but i'm remaining skeptical until proven otherwise.
The fact that Marty and Beathard both are effusive in praise of this move and Dan in this move argues against that.
Trample the Elderly 12-17-2009, 03:03 PM The Bruce Allen presser was pretty good. He didn't throw anything out there to make you think Zorn is staying or going, but if I had to read between the lines I think Mr. Portis is done here.
Allen said he's a big proponent of practicing 52 weeks a year; Not a good one here and there. He also said that the team will be cap ready regardless of what happens with the CBA. Didn't committ on Zorn one way or another, but for the first time I'm starting to believe Zorn is gone too.
I liked that!
tryfuhl 12-17-2009, 03:03 PM A 9-7 season which is the culmination of 5 years with more losses than wins is nothing to be proud about. 9-7 is mediocre. allen and gruden's record together was very mediocre.
A decade with 5 divisional championships is way below my standards too.

What's a "real" GM?
BigHairedAristocrat 12-17-2009, 03:06 PM Because people like to complain for the sake of complaining and pull stuff out of their asses and say they are facts.
You mean people pull facts from history at share it with people who have thier head burried so deep in the sand they can't see what's going on? Allen's record speaks for itself. Under 500. he's no Messiah. Everyone WANTS him to be, but there's nothing in his record to suggest that he's going to be a "real GM" here or that he will bring any measure of success to this team.
12thMan 12-17-2009, 03:06 PM One more thing, until Gruden removes all doubt and releases a statement saying he's not interested, not in the running, and hasn't been contacted, he's a candidate in my opinion.
Gruden could end the speculation very easily. His silence speaks volumes.

So by that logic, this team has been way below your standards for years. Yet you're complaining when the Dan is actually manning up and at least trying to go in a different direction?
I've pissed on The Dan and spewed hatred at the man for many a day. This day wasn't one of the them.

You're entitled to your opinion...however you have a tendency to present your opinions as facts here. I think everyone should be in a wait and see mode. But you are definitely going out of your way to present "information" to "prove" your point. And I put these words in quotations because you have brought information that is mediocre at best to prove your point.

Allen only gets credit for his 5 years as a General Manager. In those five years, Tampa Bay posted a record under .500, won the division twice, and lost in the wild card round both times.
