So by hiring Allen, are we rebuilding and starting over. JC may possibly have to learn a brand new O?

Jamaican'Skin 12-17-2009, 10:09 AM So by hiring Allen, are we rebuilding and starting over. JC may possibly have to learn a brand new O? Ruhskins 12-17-2009, 10:10 AM We may not hire someone with the title of GM...we haven't had one. So Allen could be Vinny's direct replacement in job duties? With Shanny as the head coach with some input in the personnel decisions? I'd hope and expect that Allen and Shanahan would work TOGETHER as opposed to the HC trying to control the team completely. That usually doesn't end well, but I'd have more faith in Shanahan than Holmgren to succeed in the dual role. With this speculation, I'd still love to get Gruden despite his ESPN contract. This is the reason why I would want Gruden instead of Shanahan. Allen and Chucky have worked together before. celts32 12-17-2009, 10:10 AM From what SS is saying, the GM role could still go to Shanahan I was listening to ESPN980 and they were saying that Allen was being named VP & GM. SmootSmack 12-17-2009, 10:11 AM Let's all clear this up...there's no way in hell Gruden's contract precludes him from taking a football job. Not in any obstructive way. Well...it would be really difficult next season. Not impossible but difficult. Crazy how we have a Monday Night game coming up MTK 12-17-2009, 10:11 AM Let's all clear this up...there's no way in hell Gruden's contract precludes him from taking a football job. Not in any obstructive way. From what I heard Schefter a few weeks back his contract would make it difficult to leave ESPN right away, but not impossible. At that time Schefter said the chances of Gruden coming back for 2010 was "less than zero". Defensewins 12-17-2009, 10:11 AM So by hiring Allen, are we rebuilding and starting over. JC may possibly have to learn a brand new O? No. All of the candidates for HC all run the same west coast offense. They might have a wrinkle or two slight difference, but the terminology is all the same. It will be easy for Campbell. Monkeydad 12-17-2009, 10:11 AM I agree but he was fired for not being able to communicate with the players. When he was let go I remember very well that a lot of the players did not have nice things to say about him. That does concern me a little bit. This doesn't concern me. A coach that really pushes players and holds them accountable won't be everyone's best friend. Look at Zorn and the players' relationship with him. He's their buddy, they DO support him and play hard for him, yet he doesn't make the tough and necessary decisions with the team. If Gruden were the coach, there's no way Randel El would be given a countless number of chances to repeat failure and Landry wouldn't be allowed to relax so many times on coverage without long-term and tough repercussions. MTK 12-17-2009, 10:12 AM Can we clarify what Allen's title is? I'm seeing VP, and also VP/GM. Ruhskins 12-17-2009, 10:13 AM Can we clarify what Allen's title is? I'm seeing VP, and also VP/GM. ESPN 980 said VP/GM and WaPost: Redskins Insider - Report: Bruce Allen to take control of Redskins (http://voices.washingtonpost.com/redskinsinsider/report-allen-to-take-over-reds.html) Bruce Allen, the son of former Redskins coach George Allen, will be the new executive vice president of football operations and general manager of the Washington Redskins, according to readio station ESPN 980. celts32 12-17-2009, 10:14 AM Well...it would be really difficult next season. Not impossible but difficult. Crazy how we have a Monday Night game coming up By difficult I assume you mean a large buyout...in that case if Allen wants Gruden and Gruden wants to work with Allen again then the Redskins could pay off ESPN to get Gruden out if they really want him. |
