Longtimefan 12-15-2009, 03:59 PM Dave Kreig, Vinny Testaverde, Warren Moon, Trent Green...all a few of the older QBs who came before Favre.
He's not starting a trend, he's just one of many who have done the same. Now Brett is competing at a much higher level at the older age, but he's not the first QB to play well into his 40s.
I think Frank Tarkenton may be one of the "founders" of the feat.
I had actually forgotten about Testaverde. He's the oldest QB to ever start and win a game in NFL history. Moon, Kreig are slightly younger, Green is only 39 now. Tarkenton, Blanda and Testaverde all share the distinction of being the oldest QB's to play in the NFL.
CRedskinsRule 12-15-2009, 04:22 PM Top 10 QBs in 2009 to date (based on Rating) are as follows:
Brees (30), Favre (40), Rivers (28), Rodgers (26), P. Manning (33), Schaub (28), Roethlisburger (27), Romo (29), McNabb (33), Brady (32).
Aside from Favre and Warner (38), the trend really doesn't exist and they are certainly exceptions to the rule. What is also helping these 2 old farts are offensive lines (Favre's been sacked 27 times, Warner 20) and the young (sub-30 years old) receivers these guys are throwing to (Favre has Berrian, Harvin, Rice; Warner has Fitzgerald, Boldin, Breaston).
hate to turn this into a JC thread but those ages really stand out since JC turns 28 this year so he could really be right at the turning point, and he does seem to be playing like the light is turning on. It would be a shame to give up on him (even I had done as much by the 6th game) just when - age wise- he "gets it"
SolidSnake84 12-15-2009, 05:37 PM I saw the comments about my other post talking about old people.
Is it really so wrong to wish for fairness when it comes to the laws regarding older people?
for example...if i lose control of my car and hit and kill a pedestrian, i am going to face charges and/or lose my license. But if I am 85 and do the same thing, nobody does anything to me....why is that fair?
Joe Ferguson played at age 40 as well.

Sorry about your friend. And I don't know all the facts on it so I won't speculate. But your wrong in saying that an elderly person would not face any repercussions. Your one incident does not reflect the norm
mlmdub130 12-15-2009, 06:49 PM What annoys me most about Favre are
1.) The fact that he doesn't get retested to keep his roster status
2) He doesn't get punished for intentional grounding because "of his age".
3) He thinks people owe him something.....
do you dislike brady? because he gets away with everything
and do you realy think he thinks people owe him something, i never really picked that up

LOL. No, I was just making the connection between SolidSnake rooting for the old man on the football field and this (http://www.thewarpath.net/639811-post16.html)

SolidSnake84 12-16-2009, 09:02 AM A careless left turn by an elderly driver left one man dead this week in a car accident Stevens City, Virginia. Charles Clevenger, and 88-year-old resident of Stevens City, was making a left turn into his driveway off of Tasker Road but did not see an oncoming car approaching that was driven by 25-year-old Josh Doll of Winchester, VA. The accident occurred at about 5:20 p.m. on Wednesday evening.
Doll, who was driving a Jeep without a top and who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from his vehicle and his body was then pinned under Clevenger's Taurus. Stephens City Volunteer Fire and Rescue Assistant Chief John Jones explained that a Medevac helicopter was initially called to the scene but was then told to turn back when rescuers confirmed that Doll had died at the scene of the rollover accident.
As investigators from the Virginia State Police reconstructed the scene, skid marks indicated that Doll attempted to stop his southbound vehicle before striking the vehicle headed northbound. Clevenger was not hurt in the accident and watched the rescue team work from a lawn chair in his front yard. Clevenger was described by eyewitnesses as having no response. It took about an hour to extract Doll's body from the scene of the rollover accident, as the two cars involved in the deadly crash were entangled.
thats from an article in May of this year, when Josh died. Smoot was asking about the details...
Charles Clevenger was a stephens city man that many people knew. He had lost his license years ago, and had to be on full-time oxygen. No one knew why he decided to drive that day, but it was believed he was headed to the bowman library. (Allegedly clevenger hadn't drove in years)
A good friend of mine watched the whole accident unfold from her front yard. Clevenger got out of his car, walked over and sat down in a lawn chair, with Josh's body still pinned underneath his car. To our knowledge, he has never issued an apology, or been the least bit remorseful over what happened. Josh left behind a loving wife, and was expecting their first child..
CRedskinsRule 12-16-2009, 09:09 AM Truly deeply sorry for your loss sir. It sounds horrific, and immensely painful for you, the wife, and first child.
