No draft when the CBA expires? I haven't heard of that, you have a link?
F. . . The NFL draft.Daseal 12-10-2009, 11:08 AM No draft when the CBA expires? I haven't heard of that, you have a link? SmootSmack 12-10-2009, 11:08 AM I thought this thread was going to be a discussion of possibly not having a draft once the cba expires. I know some people are upset by this & some, like Mike Wilbon, criticize the nfl for overmarketing & making a spectacle of something that's not even a game. But people watch it, including myself, and I'll be into that thursday night for sure. I like watching the nba draft, which is always at night, and I think it should be pretty cool for the nfl draft as well. The NBA draft is great. Two rounds, five minutes between picks. It just flows so smoothly freddyg12 12-10-2009, 11:08 AM Over the past few years I have found myself watching the draft less and less, mainly because on a Saturday afternoon I can find a million other things to do vs. watching TV. However on a Thurs. or Fri night, that's prime TV time. I'll watch even more with this new setup. Exactly, the nfl & espn know the ratings are high enough that it can compete on prime time tv, and generate more viewers than on a saturday for reasons which you note above. Hog1 12-10-2009, 11:09 AM When our season's go like............this, what else is there? CRedskinsRule 12-10-2009, 11:10 AM I think it opens up a ton of intrigue between Thursday and Friday. Prime wheeling and dealing time during the day Friday, ESPN's rumor mill and prognosticators will be going wild. As for the TV spectacle, I am sure it will get it's share of viewers, and be marketed for effect. SmootSmack 12-10-2009, 11:11 AM No draft when the CBA expires? I haven't heard of that, you have a link? I believe the earliest there would be no draft is 2012 johno 12-10-2009, 11:34 AM i also would prefer the draft to occur on the weekend, i cant get all boozed up on a thursday evening, with work to follow that friday! as others have already said, after a season like this, draft day is one of the highlights for me. on a more productive note, i wonder if this will change the way teams draft. with this three day scenario, they will have much more time to evaluate their boards, etc. what do you all think? maroonandblack30 12-10-2009, 11:35 AM Over the past few years I have found myself watching the draft less and less, mainly because on a Saturday afternoon I can find a million other things to do vs. watching TV. Daseal 12-10-2009, 11:37 AM SmootSmack -- Missed your posting earlier. What prompted the thread was TMC and myself deciding we should get together and watch the draft on Saturday... 53Fan 12-10-2009, 11:45 AM I'll probably get to see more of it since it's on a Thursday night instead of a weekend. It's fine with me. |
