I'd honestly rather have Rock than Portis. Rock has more heart and less wear and tear. Gerhart would be the change of pace guy we've been looking for. I'd be cool with Ganther. It'd be nice to have a situational backs instead of an all purpose back.

100% agreed.

You realize getting Gerhart would mean we're probably ignoring the line AGAIN?

We need to use the #1 on the OL.

I agree with Buster here. Everybody is chomping at the bit to get a new back, which we desperatley need, but we need to fix our line too.

Use picks on linemen, and then if we can get a good back, do it.

How do people here define "change of pace back"

Keeping Rock is a nice idea however it's not the thought of the owner or management however IMO. If Rock wasn't so good on special teams, he would have been gone. The fact that Devin has done so well on kick off return, I don't see Rock being here next year. No matter how hard he tries and the effort he puts in he can't carry the offense on his back if needed. He is just not that caliber of back.

Brian Westbrook is back at practice today even though he has had 2 concussions in a span of 3 weeks. If you think Portis being put on IR was purely due to a concussion, I have a bridge I can sell you.

His name was thrown out there. You'll have no arguement from me about a LT for the # 1 this year, just like last year, and the year before that, and . . .

How do people here define "change of pace back"

Small little runners VS Big ole runners. Speed & Ellusiveness VS Raw Power.

So I guess you're saying there's no way Portis simply had a worse concussion than Westbrook? The records of both teams at this point is also a factor. At 3-9 there's no point in trying to get CP back on the field.

Heck Trent Green missed most of the entire 2006 season with a severe concussion. He came back that season, but his game was off.

The very next year, Green suffered another concussion that was much less serious...but decided to retire anyway, because the risk was too great.

Portis may have to face the same decision...
