jsarno 12-09-2009, 03:52 PM So I guess you're saying there's no way Portis simply had a worse concussion than Westbrook?
I am definitely saying that especially considering Westbrooks hits were harder and twice as many. Of course the brain is a fickle thing, and you never know how it will respond, but you really have to ask yourself who has ever missed 8 games with a concussion. It just doesn't happen. There is clearly more to this than either side (Portis or the Skins) are letting on.
The records of both teams at this point is also a factor. At 3-9 there's no point in trying to get CP back on the field.
Of course, that was part of my point. There is no point in him playing...what would he be playing for?
Concussions are still a mystery even to doctors. I think you're really reaching here jsarno. Did you see the hit that CP took?
What's your conspiracy theory exactly?
SolidSnake84 12-09-2009, 04:02 PM I dont buy into the conspiracy theory, but in reality, there really could be more to the story.
Portis has been cleared by the team doctor, but per NFL rules he has to be cleared by an outside source not associated with the team. The U of Pittsburgh wouldn't give him that clearance, and by all accounts told him things were worse than his original tests showed....
Portis has to now think about his life and future in general. His agent said all the right things. Of course he isn't going to come out and say "oh he might be retiring, i dunno it looks pretty bad". He gave the standard PR line that Clinton will be back next year.
This is an issue that will be addressed in the offseason. There is no reason to make a big deal of it now. If Portis is forced to retire, he will do it in the off-season...not during the season....

Well, that is certainly possible. Like I said, some day Portis will come out and say what really happened.

That's pretty much what the story is, I'm just wondering what more could there be??

Like what? I'm just curious what your theory is.

I'll give you a theory.
Clinton Portis and Dan Snyder are actually running an illegal prostitution ring. Now the Florida branch was starting to show a dip in profits so Dan has to send his Main Pimp for the Southeastern portion of the country (Portis) had to go and get the people in line and oversee operation there. So, he has Clinton Portis fake a concussion and was originally scheduled to come back. However, things were going on so well in Florida that Snyder has considered breaking the No Pimpin in Atlanta Treaty of 2006 and keeping Portis, his top guy down there ro get things rolling. Around this time is when Clinton was originally supposed to make his return but Snyder has a sit down with some of his connects in Pittsburgh to give Portis a less than satisfactory report. Coincidently, there has been a 16% rise in ATM Withdrawls in the Cobb County area. One would have to assume that this is the key.
Next year Portis will be back playing for the Skins becuase by that time sources say that Snyders Snatches should be running smoothly with hopes of moving into Texas. Watch out for Brian Orakpo having a contract dispute or a mini-camp boycott. It's all there man, all you have to do is search for the answers.
mlmdub130 12-09-2009, 06:26 PM How do people here define "change of pace back"
marion barber is your pounder and tashard choice and felix jones are you speedsters

I remember way back when Earnest Byner was our workhorse and then Riggs would come in for the 1-yard TD run. But I never really thought of Riggs as a change of pace back.
On the other hand, Joe Washington's 10 or so carries with a few catches thrown in...I saw him as a change of pace to Riggo's 30+ carries.
I guess what I'm getting at is I don't really see Gerhart as a change of pace back.
