Eli Manning says people should get over his autographing a wall at new Cowboys Stadium - ESPN Dallas (http://sports.espn.go.com/dallas/nfl/news/story?id=4711044)

Manning left mark after signature win

New York Giants (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=nyg) quarterback Eli Manning (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=5526) acknowledged Thursday that the autograph on the wall of the visiting locker room at Cowboys Stadium is authentic.

Dallas Cowboys (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=dal) linebacker Bradie James (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=4561) considers the signature a form of taunting, much like Giants running back Brandon Jacobs (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=8524)' postgame dance on the star at midfield after New York's 33-31 victory in the grand opening of the $1.2 billion stadium. The autograph was accompanied by the score of the game and "First win in the New Stadium."

"We won't forget that," said James, a defensive captain who ranted Wednesday about his dislike of the Giants. "It just makes for a more intense game."

Manning confirmed that the signature was his, but he said he didn't intend the autograph as a taunt. He said he just granted the request of a locker room attendant.

"Yeah, it's a pretty common thing," Manning told reporters at the Giants' practice facility. "I was asked to sign it, it wasn't like I just went there and signed it. I didn't have a pen on me or anything. It was all supplied."

Cowboys coach Wade Phillips said he "didn't think it was a great thing to do" and seemed puzzled by Manning's explanation.

"Things come back around in this league," Phillips said.

Manning did not seem concerned when told that the Cowboys were using his autograph as motivational fodder.

"Yeah, I kind of heard a few things about it,'' Manning said. "I figure they'll eventually get over it."

why is a scrub like Bradie James the mouth piece for the Cowboys? and the dance was stolen from Rock, after we beat them in the last game at the old stadium

eli is a pussy and i fucking can not stand the cowboys so if all parties involved sunday could spontaneously combust upon kick-off, that would be most convenient for me.

This makes me like Eli a little more. He definitely marches to his own beat and I dig the disrespect of the cowboys. I mean after it all it was the first win in the stadium and a historic event, mine as well commemorate it. Just don't try that crap at FedEx Eli.

Manning Confirms Mark On JerryWorld | NBC Dallas-Fort Worth (http://www.nbcdfw.com/blogs/blue-star/Manning-Confirms-Mark-On-JerryWorld-78450057.html)

In the wake of the Dallas Cowboys (http://www.thewarpath.net/topics?topic=Dallas+Cowboys) home opener loss to the New York Giants (http://www.thewarpath.net/topics?topic=New+York+Giants), we reported that Eli Manning, or possibly an Eli-impostor, had adorned the new stadium (http://www.nbcdfw.com/blogs/blue-star/Mannings-Mark-on-JerryWorld-63323272.html) with an autograph, complete with the score, the date, and the subtitle "First win in the new stadium." Of course, some Cowboys fans were incensed. We were, well, curious.
Months passed with no word on whether he did or didn't sign Jerry's fancy new stadium. And while I like to think of Eli as a generally reprehensible human being--he is a New York Giant, after all--graffiti doesn't really seem like his modus operandi. Thus the confusion.
Today, finally, some explanation has surfaced.
Manning (http://www.thewarpath.net/topics?topic=Eli+Manning) did sign the wall of the visitors locker room at Cowboys Stadium; however, this was no rogue act against the Cowboys franchise, but rather, a bit of tradition fairly prevalent in NFL (http://www.thewarpath.net/topics?topic=National+Football+League) stadiums. According to NJ.com, Manning was asked by an employee of the stadium to sign the wall (http://www.nj.com/giants/index.ssf/2009/12/ny_giants_quarterback_confirms.html), in hopes of beginning a sort of 'wall of fame' in the bowels of JerryWorld, like those at Lincoln Financial in Philadelphia and Heinz Field (http://www.thewarpath.net/topics?topic=Heinz+Field) in Pittsburgh.
"It’s a pretty common thing. I was asked to sign it," Manning said Thursday. "It wasn’t like I just went there and signed it. I didn’t have a pen on me or anything."
Manning continued, "It was all me," when asked about the subtitle, adding that he was aware that some fans and players might have been unhappy with the sentiment of his inked message.
"Yeah, I’ve heard a few things about it," Manning said. "But they’ll eventually get over it."
