i thought coming in to this season we would be 6-10 and from the looks of things we'll end up 5-10 (oakland and dallas), i think we will improve our record next year and be right around 8-8, but we have a ways to go before we get a nfc divisional championship, that said i think we have about two seasons minimum til we have a 10 win season, i really hope it's sooner though

Well, there is no way in hell I can predict. We will likely have a new QB and a new OL. There has to be substantial changes, Snyder said so, so until I see those, saying we will be 10-6 in two years is a stretch. I assume you are saying that based on the status quo? If that is the case, I don't see a winning record in two years.

It can happen rather quickly (2 years) if the team FO goes through a culture change.
1. Vinny is fired and a GM is hired.
2. Dan Snyder gives up all decisions that GMs usually make. No more personal decisions f-ing period.
We can win with DS playing the role of owner rather than football guy. This culture change also revolves around building a team through the draft and not over paying non preforming players...its really not that hard to see that is a fail.

Prominence as in winning a Super Bowl?

at least in contention like what the colts, steelers, and patriots are right now

I fall there as well. We are some of the harshest critics of Snyder, but I hold out hope that this year was humiliating enough that Snyder will pull the trigger on change.

Put it this way CR --- if this year does not bring change, what will it take?

IF, this year doesn't bring an obvious change - Snyder does the OC 1st-HC 2nd -then GM routine, or Vinny stays as VP of football operations, or the new GM is clearly a shell for Snyder; then we will be a bottom feeder, every year or two trying the new and improved version of the same deep poop. If a season in which you can't compete against the worst teams for 6 straight weeks, doesn't bring change, then nothing will rock Snyder's myopic view.

I don't expect those scenarios to play out. I believe Snyder sees that talent exists, and Vinny did in fact make some good choices, but he also ignored enough obvious issues that he can't remain. I hope that Snyder acknowledges his part, and brings in a real, a la Bill Parcells, football overseer. Someone he can relate to, but also has the full knowledge necessary to put a yearly contender together. I want this season to be over, and to see how the first 2 weeks go. There really should be NO delay in picking a GM from the pool of available candidates.

I think Imdub, mImpetert, Matty, and SS, should all have shotguns at the ready, and when DS comes in, I'll collect them all, and hide them a la Roadhouse!

I think a lot depends on the upcoming draft and offseason. If we can get two to three O-lineman starters and a running back that do more than just contribute, we can be legit playoff contenders in two seasons. The problem is our draft record has shown we are not capable of getting multiple (3 or more) difference maker type players in one draft class.

Vinny must go! That is a must. But Snyder scares me about Vinny. Nothing would surprise me when it comes to Vinny and Danny. I would not be shocked if he kept Vinny on for one more season...just to try and prove everyone wrong.

Well then you're talking about sustained success over a period of time and that may take a little while. They can easily jump to the playoffs next year and be the darlings of the NFL but then just as easily revert to a middle of the road team. We see it all the time.

I think we can't really answer this until January. If Snyder fires Vinny and puts compitent people in place I think we could start winning consistently within a couple years. If we simply keep the same structure and insert a new coach into it we will never win.

^i agree , the bengals are this years playoff surprise... Next yr they could easilly be back to a 6 win team.. The pats and colts have built a great team for years and years now.
