With it so close, some voters may say well McCoy should have won last year so let's give it to him this year, or well Tebow is one of the best players in the history of college football let's give it to him like a lifetime achievement award.

IMO Tebow got his lifetime achievement award in advance. I say please give someone else the Heisman this year.

I think Gerhart has the stats to get it and is deserving, but I also think Suh is an absolute beast and if it was truly given to the best college player he would get it.

Give it to Ndamakong Suh of Nebraska, never once have I ever seen such a dominate defensive lineman man handle oLineman like he did throughout the whole game. He picked up Colt McCoy with one hand around his neck and literally threw him to the ground. He is more dominating than either ingram or gerhart IMO

I agree. I've never seen a TACKLE as dominant as Suh at the college level. I've seen dominant LBs and even DEs, but for him to so thoroughly manhandle double and triple teams in the middle of the line is astounding.

That being said, Gerhart and Ingram are both excellent running backs, but D-Linemen as dominant as Suh are extremely rare and almost unheard of. Thus, if I had a heisman vote, it would go to Mr. Ndamukong Suh.

anyone know when the last heisman winer was a d lineman? suh is probably gonna win about 8 or 9 defensive awards this year, and no one(espn) hasn't talked about him in the heisman debate all year

The only defensive player I can think of that ever won it was Charles Woodson

I think he was the first defensive player to ever win the Heisman. At least in our lifetime.

looked it up larry kelly in 36, leon hart in 48, and woodson in 97, woodson was the only true defesive player since kelly and hart both played offense and defense

I thought Ingram won the Heisman while watching the SEC Champ Game. Then I watched Suh put up one of the most dominant defensive games I've ever seen. 11 tackles (for a DT), 6 tackles for a loss, and 4.5 sacks. In one game. Sheesh.

Woodson got it in '97 for a Michigan team that won a National Championship, plus he contributed in the return game. Suh should win every stinking defensive award across the board, but not the Heisman.

I think the voting will look like:

Ingram (after Tebow won it as Soph, can't use that against a guy anymore)
McCoy
Tebow
Suh
Gerhart

This year there is no QB who really stands out. Gerhart has the numbers but Ingram has the exposure. Suh stands alone at his position and has been nothing short of remarkable. As GMScud said, he could win every defensive award across the board and not win the Heisman, but...I think his talent is so remarkable that the voters can't help but notice and he becomes the first defensive player since Woodson to win.

suh doesn't have "the buzz" i doubt he will even be in new york, but he had a hell of a year if nebraska had one loss then he would be in the top four.

i love the names, but nothing for mccoy?
