Congratulations, Jerry Gray! This is a great opportunity.

As for what this might portend in regard to further Redskins coaching changes, I doubt that Jerry Gray taking this job has anything to do with that. I can't think of any reason why Dan Snyder would try to deny Gray such an excellent job opportunity when we're evidently out of the race for the playoffs.

I am sad to see Gray go as a Skins fan but happy as a Memphis alum to welcome him in to the fold. Memphis has produced several NFL players and I'm looking forward to seeing even more now that Coach Gray is in town.

If Coach Gray happens to read this forum please make sure to make a trip to A&R bbq, one of the cities many hidden gems.

This is pure speculation.

Is it possible, that Blache, Snyder, and Gibbs conspired to let Gray take over the media duties to give him more exposure. I realize this would involve assigning less petty motives to our owner/staff than normal, but it seems very possible to me. Didn't Gibbs dinner with Snyder come around the same time? again, pure speculation, but perhaps Gibbs discussed Memphis as a possibility, and Blache backed off to let Gray have some air time. Seems that would be an invaluable asset in showing his presentability.

That actually crossed my mind when I read this. I think its totally possible.

I don't know about Coach Gray reading this, but one day I'm gonna make it to Memphis & do a blues/bbq tour. I'll keep A&R in mind!

Sources: Memphis Tigers to hire Washington Redskins assistant coach Jerry Gray - ESPN (http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4687627)

so much for any of those hopes about him taking over the defense.

unfortunately, unless our next coach is just a patsy like zorn, i have the feeling whoever he is is going to clean house on both sides of the ball. I'd honestly be surprised if ANY of our senior coaching staff remain. certainly none on our offense should remain.

This is great for Jerry, I wanted him as our DC next year. Time to go get one of our own in Todd Bowles.

Jerry Gray is one of THE class acts in the NFL. I doubt you could round up a dozen people who have a bad word to say about him. Forget his coaching abilities - - which are very good; the Redskins are losing a man of character and grace. It is sort of like when Darrell Green left the team.

He is taking over a woeful Memphis team - - probably could not crack the Top 100 in college football this year if such a ranking existed. I hope the alums and the administration at Memphis give him a few years to work a turnaround there. He has LOADS of work to do.

Good luck, Coach...
