When you sign someone from another team's practice squad, you HAVE to put them on the 53 man roster and keep them on 3 weeks. I think it says that Woodson wasn't making any progress and was not going to work out, so you bring in another qb and try them out. At that point Woodson is extraneous. This stuff really isn't Madden, or rocket science, and you have to follow the rules set by the NFL.

didn't realize that

wasn't he 10 weeks ago

I think 10 weeks is about right, think about any job, the first few weeks really are just about getting to know if the newb can relate to the people in the company, then you start giving him responsibility and seeing if he gets it. after 8-10 weeks both sides know each other. Football is a different environment, I don't really know how it works, but its rare for a player, other than Mason, to be signed released signed back etc. I think bringing a guy to an active roster says that Woodson had gotten nowhere. Having said that we probably will resign him in three weeks when we got the new guy ;)

Yeah I think we had a similar situation with Alridge when he signed with us. Still, it's a bit disappointing that they didn't feel the guy they've had all season long practicing with them (a guy who they chose over Chase Daniel-not that I'm bitter-even all those times that Chase was available) wasn't considered good enough to make the active roster. Yet this guy who wasn't good enough it seems to be the #3 QB behind Quinn and Anderson in Cleveland, and who doesn't have the pedigree of Andre Woodson (or Chase Daniel-seriously, not bitter at all) is good enough?

If it were me, I would have just moved Woodson up to the active roster.

But clearly Bartel, the former Cowboy, was recommended to us by our next head coach...Jason Garrett! I keed, I keed.

Mosely seems to think he'd do alright. Personally I've never heard of him.

next year's Washington Redskins Coaching staff:

HC - Jason Garrett
DC - Wade Phillips
to top it off
GM/President of football operations: Bill Parcells

Oh and we will be trading Moss to Buffalo for TO and we will send a 2nd round pick

Have I sent Redskins Nation into seizures yet?

We'll get Switzer instead of Parcells

Seriously, is there any real indication, any hint whatsoever, Snyder will turn this franchise over to a legitimate person? I keep hearing it mentioned but it seems 1) very speculative 2) a lot like flying in the face of Snyder's history as owner 3) possibly contrary to the direction we're headed.

...per the third point I really have to wonder if Snyder will see this season as justification for getting more involved instead of less. Allegedly he gave Vinny more control over the last two years and the result is, well, disaster. Who's to say Snyder hasn't been thinking of all the ways he'd do it better in full control? If he did have plans to turn the franchise over to a GM wouldn't you bring that guy in sooner than later so he can find out who's worth keeping around, both roster and staff wise? I mean I understand changing HC's midseason isn't wise but why wait to bring in a GM?

What if the GM is currently employed by another team? What if the GM wants to wait until season's end? What if the GM is already surveying the team, but from a far as say a "consultant". What if the GM is an internal candidate already?
