Season Ball Goes to Cornelius Griffin who has made 24 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 fumble recovery, and tipped one pass (on pace for 64 tackles and 6 sacks!). He leads ALL the league's defensive tackles in tackles. He's been a difference maker on the defensive line and is perhaps one of the league's best DTs this year. In my opinion, he was the best overall pickup of the offseason (Portis would be my #2 pickup and Springs my #3).

After yesterday's performance of 171 yards on 36 carries, Portis is on pace for 1581 rushing yards this season and is the league's third leading rusher.

Mark Brunell has a quarterback rating or 69.8 and is on pace to finish the season with 2,432 passing yards, 13 TDs, and 8 INTs.

THE OFFENSE:
Averaging only 280 combined offensive yards per game, the Redskins have the league's 5th worst offense and:

1. are 6th best in the league in TOP,

2. are the 5th best in the league in penalties,

3. are converting only 32% of third downs,

4. have the 27th ranked passing game,

5. have the league's WORST passing completion percentage,

6. have the 15th best rushing attack (averaging 119 yards per game at 3.8 yards per carry),

7. have the 4th most rushing attempts per game,

8. have scored the 3rd fewest points in the league at 14 points per game (behind only Tampa and Miami).

THE DEFENSE is the 2nd BEST defense in the league, allowing a mere 234 yards per game and have:

1. the league's best 3rd down conversion percentage allowed at 23%!!!!

2. the 4th best passing defense, allowing just 147 passing yards per game,

3. picked off more passes (5) than they've allowed TDs (4)

4. allowed opponents to score just .666 TDs per game.

5. the 3rd best rushing defense, allowing just 87 yards per game at 3.1 yards per carry,

6. allowed just 2 rushing TDs in 6 games, or .3333 rushing TDs per game,

7. are allowing opponents to score just 10 points per game!!!!!!,

8. are tied for th 5th most sacks in the league at 16, or almost 3 per game.

Tackles aren't an official stat so various sources will usually differ.

I agree Griffin has paid off big time for us, where are all the critics that said we overpaid for guys like Griffin and Springs? Both of those guys have really come through very nicely.

7 tackles for a loss is huge, just like cornelius griffen. we need another weapon on the D line and our defense will be a force to reckon with.

Compare that (Griffin's numbers) to the big name DT we could have overpaid for, but didn't:
Warren Sapp: 13 Tackles (19 total) and 0.5 sacks
Good job Skins FO! :biggthump

And Sapp is next to Ted Washington. Griffin is next to other teams' third stringers.

we all knew sapp was done though... and besides, he's a total jack@$$, and gibbs wouldn't go for that...

washington on the other hand is old, but did very well last year in stuffing the run...

Agreed.

And what about Marcus Washington? The guy is everywhere.
He may even be, dare I say, better than Lavar. :o
