Brunell: 95 yds - 70 interception yards = 25 net
C'mon he's the only guy that kept the Bears in the game. After the big INT in the first half, we have the ball with 2:45 to go and have the chance to regain momentum and bury the Bears. But for some reason, we simply ran out the clock. It had to be obvious to every player on the field that Gibbs didn't trust Brunell to handle the ball. My question is with the SKins having the lead at half in four out of five games, would't it seem we'd want to go into the half with more than three points and not still licking our wounds from the 70yd INT? Thank goodness our D is incredible. Just hope they can keep it together because 13 points will beat nobody in our upcoming schedule.

The last time a team scored a TD on our Defense was Dallas. Teams are not scoring on an average about 7 points so I disagree with you on that point. The year the Ravens won the SuperBowl, they only allowed 10 points at best and their offense looked a lot like ours. The difference is these players are all new to Gibb's system and everybody said give the offense until week six. Now everyone wants to separate Brunell from Portis and the yards he gained. To hell with the fact that Brunell lead the team to a TD in the first half. Statistics have gone our way in the last four weeks while the score has not reflected the stats. I'll take the ugly win over a high scoring loss.

Sunra,

With all due respect, do you really think Brunell is performing at an "acceptable" level? He's horrible. Is ANYONE scared of his abilities (especially his ability to throw the ball deep)? I understand your loyalty to Brunell (since I'm loyal to Ramsey), but even I recognize Ramsey's flaws. I don't think I've heard a single person (outside of Gibbs) say Brunell is doing a decent job.

you talk about how awesome brunell is and keep bringing up the same 4 plays and specific anti-ramsey examples... but he lays another stinker and you've changed to saying that stats don't matter and that he won??? guess what? we'd win "better" with ramsey... bench the tired sack.

Some interesting stats:

Since 2003:
-Brunell's led teams are 2-9.

-Brunell has thrown 7 TDs in 11 games (.6 TDs per game).

In 2004:
-Brunell is averaging 150 yards per game.

-Brunell's QB rating is about 65 (the worst in the NFL for a starting QB).

-Brunell has thrown 5 TDs, 3 INTs, and fumbled six times (even if the
protection is sometimes poor, Brunell needs to be aware of the rush).

-On 3rd down, Brunell is 21 of 50.

-In 3 of 6 games Brunell has thrown for LESS than 100 yards!@!#@

-In 5 of 6 games Brunell has thrown for LESS than 200 yards!@!##

-In two games where Portis rushed for 320 yards, Brunell threw for 210 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, and had less than 50% completions. So I have a hard time believing that Brunell's failures are due to Portis.

-Brunell is averaging .5 passes of 20 yards or more per game.

The worst QB rating in the league! Now that has got to say something.

Almost everybody thought Coach Gibbs was going to come in here and just wave his magical wand and we would win. I didn't. This is week six and Brunell's performance was acceptable based on what we expected from Portis's running game. Brunell was brought here to run an effecient offense. We didn't expect Jansen to leave us that early in the season and with Ray Brown in there it makes Brunells job even harder. I knew what kind of QB Brunell was before he came here. And so did Coach Gibbs. Gibbs has more knowlege of QB's in his pinky finger than all of us on the Warpath combined. It's great to be passionate about a certain player , but not to the point where that becomes your whole focus like some of the threads I have read. If you want to look at a veteran QB who is stinking up a team, look at Kerry Collins. 8 INTS in two games. They were beaten 31 / 3 by Denver today.

Gibbs wants Brunell to do just enough to allow the defense to rest. Instead of complaining about what Brunell isn't doing, Let's talk about how our defense can score some points off of turnovers when the offense is struggling.

Gibbs thinks that its his system thats the problem. And ya know, mabye it is. Mabye the players arent learning it that fast so it makes the QB look bad, becuase he runs the system on the field. SO assuming that we should keep in brunell becuase hes had the most owrk within the sytem and makes ramseys much stronger arm irrelvant. Gibbs might not be calling deep plays.

Red, I, like anyone who watched that game with an open mind, have to agree with you about Brunell.

But as far as never having seen a prevent offense, you obviously were not around when George Allen was here. That was ALWAYS his preferred offense. LOL--- not much fun to watch, but can be effective with a top "D".
