Skinny Tee 11-09-2009, 01:49 PM Redskins considering Landry at SS this week. Per WJFK The Fan. BigHairedAristocrat 11-09-2009, 02:17 PM Yeah, Zorn mentioned that in his presser. Its a shame that it took an injury to our backup SS for the team to consider playing the 5th overall pick from 2007 at the position he was drafted to play. With Smoot or Moore starting at FS, look for Landry to become a beast at SS. The Goat 11-09-2009, 02:26 PM Landry was playing close to the LOS on Turner's second TD run and had a clear shot to make the tackle. He didn't try for the "big hit." He didn't try to wrap up. HE DOVE AT THE TURF TO AVOID CONTACT. Please, please stop w/ this nonsense that Landry is always going for the lights out hit but just can't find his mark. He's avoiding direct. He fails at the two things he's supposed to do: stopping the big play (air or ground), and punishing anyone who gets into his territory. ...sometimes I feel like we're all watching different games. How the hell does anyone not see Landry avoiding contact? There are dozens of no-name safeties in the league who take every opportunity to lay the would and punish the opponent. They play fierce and fiery defense and when they punish their prey they just look to do it again. Landry isn't even in the same realm. Name me one play this season where Landry put the hurt on someone and got a reaction from the announcers or made you hold your breath? Lotus 11-09-2009, 02:26 PM I think Landry's tackling deficiencies will be magnified at SS. skinsfan69 11-09-2009, 02:29 PM Yeah, Zorn mentioned that in his presser. Paintrain 11-09-2009, 02:29 PM I think Landry's tackling deficiencies will be magnified at SS. I think he will be in position to make more tackles. Whether he does it or not is a different story but he won't be determining tackling angles from 30 yards away anymore. Paintrain 11-09-2009, 02:30 PM Landry is missing tackles and taking bad angles. Does that have anything to do with his position? I doubt it. Tackling technique, no. Taking bad angles, yes. Do you not get this? If he's closer to the line of scrimmage, it vastly reduces the angle to the ball he has to take. If he's closer to the ball, he can arrive quicker. If he's closer to the ball, there's less chance of him being one on one with a ball carrier. It really is simple, how do you not understand this? Defensewins 11-09-2009, 03:00 PM Landry is an easy target for all of the angry fans. Is he the biggest problem or worst player on the team...no. His problems are correctable with good coaching and mentoring, something that is lacking with this staff. You do not throw away a good/young player just because you are frustrated over our season and other factors, as well as his play. Landry has not played up to his potential, that is a given. However, since DC Williams left our safety play has regressed. The team as a whole has lacked a certain level of discipline in its play since that last coaching staff left and it is getting worse each week. That fault goes equally to the players and the current coaching staff. Ruhskins 11-09-2009, 03:03 PM Landry is an easy target for all of the angry fans. Landry has been showing his lack of discipline for the longest time, and his tackling has become more and more of an issue. While I'm upset at what he has done, responsibility also has to fall on the defensive coaches. Hell, for all of the poor tackling going (Landry, Hall, etc., etc.) with the team. Not that the players are off the hook, but coaching should assume responsibility as well. Defensewins 11-09-2009, 03:15 PM Lucky for him everyone is too focused on Hall. I do not see improvement, even if it is gradual, I do not see improvement in the play of the individual players. I think it is most evident in the big three receivers (Thomas, Davis and Kelly). Players jumping offsides, silly penalties and piss poor discipline play. Even if we lacked in the talent department due injuries and poor player personnel moves, at least play smart. We can not even do that. That is a major failure of this team. A BIG F! |
