People need to get off Landry's balls...he's a baller for sure though there is room for improvement. Ryan Clark is better than him? GTFOOH.

Landry has the mental capacity of a gerbil.

The fact that he showboats so much is the icing on the cake.

He can't be allowed to actually diagnose an NFL play.

Put him at SS and let him just attack.

So any chance we can take a CB and convert him to a FS (kinda like what we wanted to do with Springs last year)?

Case closed. His daddy told everbody he has been crazy and hard headed since day 1. Let him be LL.

QBs used to cringe when they see him slip through the crease at full speed... LOL!!!

no. read strength #4 and weakness #2 on your chart. landry was the help, he should not have jumped the rout. the guy illustrating the video is wrong. smoot should not be over the top of landry, it's the other way around.

^ i agree, and i don't know how you can watch that video and not think both td's were all on landry biting on a double move.

the first was his hands down and it was a terrible move he bit on. the second was actualy a great move on meechams part but to say that over top across the middle was smoots responsibility, isn't right, landry was the help and he let the wideout burn him yet again.

and after watching those plays again i don't see how he can't get benched after los got benched for pretty much the same thing

Are serious?
After watching the video your response is to say that Mike Mayock is wrong?
You can look at the diagram i posted it explains why Smoot was supposed to have deep coverage when playing Cover 4.

No offense, but i think you guys are wrong and are blaming Landry because you don't understand the scheme.

Maybe this video will help:

if the pass was to the outide yeah maybe smoot blew it, but the way that route was run there is no way smoot could have covered him and not had it be a complete pass or pass interference, smoot had outside coverage and the receiver broke in to the middle, and caught the pass in the middle.

watch the video with the volume muted and get back to me, landry bit and the pass was caught across the middle thats on the safety in my book

Smoot played that second double move badly. He might as well be on the sidelines for that play, but.....

Landry's primary responsibility in that cover four was the exact deep quarter of the field that the pass was completed into. He completely failed on his basic number one responsibility. The analyst mentions that the crossing pattern was Landry's responsibilty, but it was not his first responsibilty in the cover four.

Not directly related to Landry, but an interesting read on Tackling in the NFL.

NFL: Minnesota Vikings star Adrian Peterson is among the many coaches, players and GMs who lament -- or in AD's case celebrate -- the lost art of tackling - ESPN (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/story?page=hotread13/Tackling)
