My bad, I guess being ranked the number one pass defense in football is meaningless.
To each his own.

you are acting like landry now, one decent game and he is an all pro, doubtful
Brush up on beginner sentence comprehension and then come back to me. Not to mention you didn't even read the whole post.
Seriously?

So our defensive secondary is why we are 3-8? <crickets chirping>

I know he is inconsistent but the gap between him and all of the other safeties on our team is bigger than Strahan's teeth.
Need I remind everyone that he is a key component to one of the top secondaries in football.
read it all still feel the same, and i read it all the first time. and if you want me to go futher into your post you are saying he is a key component in a statistically good d, but they do give up big plays, of which it is usually the safties fault(unless los is covering the receiver)

Laron Landry should be locked in a room for 3 to 6 months to watch film of Darren Sharper...and then he should be forced to restructure his contract and work for a whole lot less...and then he must be forever banned from doing anything whatsoever after a play.
...seriously, Sharper has been resurrected in New Orleans and it's a blast to watch.

I do not believe Laron Landry is a bust. His play has not improved in the past two seasons; that is for sure. But he has physical talent...
I suspect that he is not well used in many of the defensive coverages that the Skins run. Too often, he is the "guardian angel" of the defense sitting 25 yards off the ball looking to assist on pass routes to either side of the field. When the play demands that he come up to make a play, he often arrives out of control. I believe this is something that can be improved with better coaching/teaching/scheming.
If Laron Landry and his agent were willing to renegotiate a reasonable long-term deal with another team, I'd bet the Skins could get a 2nd or a 3rd round pick and a conditional 5th for him. I doubt he would bring a first round pick tho.
One more thing... Laron Landry was a lot better as the strong safety than he has been lately as the free safety. Maybe the Skins should put him back where he was more successful?

The Skins are going to need a couple of "guardian angels" this week.

he is still a terrible tackler. i dont care what position he is playing, he shouldnt be bouncing off of guys (avant). if he could tackle consistently then he would be fine. but his missed tackles give up big plays.

Big C:
You are absoltutely right; his tackling technique is terrible and it does leave the Skins vulnerable to big plays that did not have to be.
However, I think at least part of that is lack of coaching and discipline imposed by the coaches...
