He's arguing that based on past stats. He hasn't seen the games this year.

i told you id be back.....after practice ehem work

im arguing based on his career......his career is currently in the present but im using his past stats because he has been injured this season

he isnt a giant baby and he plays through injuries unlike a lot of players in the league.....he carries the load by himself even tho he is injured.....im using his stats last season because he wasnt injured.....because he was healthy for the majority of the season and you saw what he could do

this year he is getting 6 less carries per game than he got last year and at an average of 4 yards per carry, thats 24 more yards your team is missing on the ground

its easier to look at a complete season and tell how someone has bounced back after an injury than look at their current injured season to see how they have played.......portis is injured now, hes been injured before and he bounced back very well

1262 yards well

I checked his post history. He joined in April 2009 after being "invited" by a member of this site, but that person doesn't post here anymore....hmmmm

i cant remember who the poster was.....it was saved in my private messages but when the site crashed i lost all of that stuff.....i dont know if they still post here but i would venture to say they dont because nobody has stepped up and admitted visiting the saints page

Next, in his about me section, there is a link to the N.O. Saints Message board and Team Shop....very strange.

blackandgold.com......im not afraid to talk about my home forum.....its "where i came from" so to speak

i speak very highly of this site over there and i will do the same over here about that site.......both sites are very similar.....lower activity level, small number of posters and everyone is somewhat close with everyone else.....lots of friendships created over the internet

Lastly, almost all of the threads he's posted in has him making a statement about how blacks are surperior athletes and generally better...also white people are "just slower".

saying a black person is faster is just as racist as using the term "black" which you all have done.....it isnt anymore racist because its true.....if you can prove me wrong then im more than willing to admit it....because it is controversial.....but so far i havent seen anything to argue the other way

Humorously he was arguing with another poster early in the year about whether to start himself (Portis) in his fantasy league...and also that he needed "insider" information about Portis' injury status lol

i dont remember talking about starting portis in fantasy.....i remember saying something about getting some insider info from you redskins fans if anything happens to portis

i need some help at RB on my fantasy team and i picked up betts just in case.....it paid off

Portis is showing the typical decline that RBs have when they hit the 30 year old mark (Shaun Alexander, Tiki Barber, Fred Taylor, LT, Edge James, etc., etc.). I think Curtis Martin was probably one of the few if not the only RB in recent history to have a career season after the age of 30. I don't understand why you insist on ignoring the fact that Portis has a lot of mileage on him given the running philosophy of this team. And speaking of running philosophies, this teams need to adopt and two or three-RB system, otherwise the next young RB that we have will be done before they reach 30 (like Portis).

Portis in a sense is a big baby when it comes to leadership...he has none and sadly he's the face of the franchise. While he is no T.O., or pre-Pats Randy Moss, Portis is a disturbance in the locker room. He has a direct line to the ownership, and that has allowed him to undermine the authority of both Joe Gibbs and Jim Zorn. He called out Mike Sellers and threw him under the bus, while he had less rushing TDs than our punter. And ever since he injured his shoulder in the preseason a few years ago, he is probably the only player that doesn't practice.

So you either have a fanatical infatuation with Clinton Portis or you just want to come here to F with people. While no one is denying his successes here in Washington, right now in this season he is not earning his paycheck and can be added to the number of things that is wrong with the team.

Exactly, why the f*ck would a Saints fan come here being so vehement about Portis being a top five back? Why not say, he's done and broken down. Or yeah, he had some good years in D.C., but you guys are being kind of hard on him. That's a case you make for yourself.

fwiw....i brought it on myself.....when you argue against the grain you gotta be prepared to take the heat.....i do it a lot on my own forum and i get flamed for it.....however, more often than not i can persuade at least one person to realize that sometimes the majority isnt right

We should all go to the Saints forum and ask why isn't Reggie Bush getting more carries.

feel free........blackandgold.com

or i could just tell you that his fumbles are costing the team points, field position, and momentum

he is very talented but his fumbles are very costly......bush has an issue with running up the hole....he tends to try and hit homeruns on every touch rather than just take what he can get.....because of it, he strikes out a lot by getting negative yardage and fumbles

And what's up with the name CantonLegend? Is there one Saint in the Hall of Fame? Legend, when you're done practicing today can you tell us what inspired your screen name? LOL

the saints have 5 or 6 guys in the hall of fame......they should be getting another couple in the next couple years when rickey jackson and maybe sam mills get inducted

one of my brothers old football coaches played for a semi pro football team in canton ohio

their name?

Arguing from Portis's past logically ignores the notion that Portis just has too much wear and tear in 2009, regardless of anything that has happened in the past.

Also, you continue to avoid the criticism that you have not seen Portis play this year.

So be specific: cite specific plays from 2009 which show that Portis has still "got it." Be specific.

Others here are citing specific plays from 2009 in support of their arguments. If you cannot do the same then you are simply talking out of your ass.

So let's hear the specifics from 2009.

shaun alexander lost his linemen and his fullback......same with LT.....edge went to arizona.....a prodominantly passing team.......fred taylor dropped because maurice jones drew started taking his carries

tiki barber? retired at 30 after rushing for over 1600 yards in his last season and over 1800 in the season before that

I don't understand why you insist on ignoring the fact that Portis has a lot of mileage on him given the running philosophy of this team. im not ignoring that at all....in fact i have said a few times that he could and should carry your team because thats what he has done in the past

i love the idea of having a running back come off the bench to spell the starter......however, you tried that earlier this season and betts couldnt handle the small workload

Portis in a sense is a big baby when it comes to leadership

not everybody in the league has the leadership trait.....thats why good leaders get so much credit and attention.....like ray lewis.....portis doesnt practice because hes hurt, because he doesnt want to get hurt again, and because he doesnt need to.....hes 27 years old and knows the offense well

oh there was this one run earlier in the season that you probably didnt see but he got some yardage on it

i dont know what you want me to say? i cant cite specific instances when i dont give 2 shits about the redskins...i have watched the redskins play this season and ive already said that

what i can say is that portis broke of a 35 yarder against the giants in the first game of the season and a 78 yarder against the chiefs a few weeks back......long runs dont come along all the time so im not exactly sure what you want me to say

in fact.....a 78 yarder is the longest of his career i think which pretty much proves, hes still got it

Damn, CL why you had to go debunking my theory. Everything lined up so nicely too. Especially the little interview I dug up about Portis liking the Saints.
