Okay, I'm about to blow the lid off this theory I have. I submit that CantonLegend is Clinton Portis! I'm calling it right now, right here.

I got to thinking, Clinton Portis was born in Mississippi. So I'm sure most folks from that region probably grew up as Saints fans. So I Googled anything about Portis from the past to see if he liked the Saints growing up. I found an interview from 2004 saying just that.

Check this out near the bottom.

The only time Betts had a legit opportunity to be the feature back he ripped off 5 straight 100 yard games.

But this thread isn't about Betts, its about Portis...

I just don't see how you are drawing the conclusion that Portis can "carry the team" what has he shown this year to prove that? On the best run of his career he couldn't even score with one man to beat and a blocker in front. Name on other top 5 back that does that?

AP this pass week got the ball knocked out his hands from behind. Remember that Sports Center highlight? That 70 plus yard run proves he is still valid. The argumant against Betts has always been he hits the hole hard and runs straight forward, often getting the balls knocked out his hands and running over his blockers. The last two weeks we haven't saw the real Betts. I think Rock should be in front of Betts. Nowadays, everybody wants to be an insurgent and over throw something. Man, chill! Redskin revolt. Man this team is about to go on a run.

We should all go to the Saints forum and ask why isn't Reggie Bush getting more carries.

I want Deuce McAllister back. LOL.

I think all the guys on offense earned their jobs, but one thing i feel from this team, is that once somebody gets a spot, it is theres for the duration. For example, Campbell has always been the unchallenged QB, no matter what. No matter how bad he plays. Even Joe Gibbs knew to stick with Collins because he was the hot hand, even though Campbell had recovered from his injury for the playoffs.

Now Portis won't lose his job to injury, but really, Betts has outplayed him at this point. He deserves to finish the year. A 3-6 team that is going nowhere should at least get to play everyone so that they can see what they have roster wise.

We won't do that. It really is a sad state when injuries are the only way you get to see depth at a position. For Example; Campbell would have cost us the season in 2007 had it not be for his injury and then Todd Collins coming in.

in 2006 Portis got injured and Betts rattled off five 100+ yard games. This year is the same way.

I just hope after this year that everyone has to battle for a job...not just become an anointed starter.

totally agree again..100% Doc Walker said it at the beginning of the year....

Why should anyone on team the finishes last in the division be guaranteed anything?

I'm telling you it's no coincidence, Portis grew up a Saints fan, and this guy comes to a Portis thread defending him with a Saints logo. CantonLegend to boot.

Well Portis is out with an injury so he would have time to browse the internet. LOL.

That would mean that Clinton Portis is a racist, given his arguments.
