Well yet again we are all getting spun up over rumors.....
Not only do we not know if JG will come back we don't even know if he does what roll he would play. I doubt he will come back as a GM since there is a lot of work involved and he has his racing team to manage. I can see him being in a position to help locate a legitimate GM and assist with locating a legitimate HC who will take the job perhaps under the understanding that DS will back off considerably.

Can I ask you an honest question? Why didn't Joe Gibbs do that before he left?

No former Skins greats should be involved in our management structure.
Doing this only cements to me that Snyder is more concerned with catering to the public opinion and not putting the right people in place to building a competitive team.
Doing this only leads to more of the chicanery that Dan does just to gain the good graces of the fans. Really...he only shows that he's interested in keeping the stadium seats filled and doesn't show any due diligence in actual football operations.
Enough with the former players and coaches...just say NO!

Well I think he tried...that's why Williams was brought in as DC and HC in-waiting w/ Saunders brought in next to run the offense. It was actually a pretty perfect set-up and the team was coming off a strong run. Lil D and his weird little toady just decided to blow things up again from the coaching/scheme perspective.
...sort of makes it hard to believe Gibbs would come back yet again. It's like he needs to say "Now Danny I'm not gonna be around to baby-sit you forever..."

So Gibbs tried? Uh-huh.

I agree with what you're saying regarding Snyder and his motivations for bringing Gibbs back yet again. Personally I think Snyder believes this will serve a dual purpose by improving the team on the field and filling the seats/appeasing the fan base. However, I think having Gibbs on board in a team president kind of role will only make us better. Gibbs is smart enough to put the right people in place to make football decisions, and Snyder has shown that he'll defer to Joe in that regard.
And let's not forget, Gibbs is the only person allowed to call Mr. Synder "Dan." That's all you need to know really. :)

I just don't want Gibbs making any GM decisions. Otherwise, I don't think there's anything wrong with appeasing the fanbase and bring someone (Gibbs) that will make the right choice in picking the right people to run the team.

Exactly. Which is why I said he'll put the right people in place to make football decisions. I actually think he's a brilliant selection for team president, as long as he hires a solid GM. The man is without question the best leader in franchise history.
My only concern would be how he would delegate between NASCAR and the Redskins. If it was going to be a 50-50 split, I wouldn't sign off on this deal. He'd need to be all in. I know he'd still do work related to his racing team, but I'd want his majority focus to be our team. Maybe after two full years devoted to nothing but NASCAR, he has the people in place to take charge of that thing full time.
I hope so, otherwise, no-go on Joe.

There's plenty wrong with appealing to the fan base. Your average fans have full-time jobs, kids and other time consuming pursuits that are necessities to daily life. God bless the average fan but most really don't know what is fundamentally wrong with the team.
They shouldn't be relied on to provide the basis of our football solutions.

I don't want Gibbs in a GM type role. I feel as if he's a large part to blame for our current problems. Too much of an emphasis on veteran players and not enough on young players. Not to mention, we need a proven personnel guy in DC who can start shaping this team into a long term winner.
