I can't help but think these common sense changes are coming in part due to Sherm Lewis' extra eyes. I can't prove it, but it seems like the moves of the last few weeks have made much more sense.
I wouldn't doubt it... why the hell didn't Gibbs, Zorn, or Danny Smith do this beforehand though? I mean it's not like it's a RECENT issue

Thank you. It's a complete mystery to me why people want to keep giving him the benefit of doubt. He's done NOTHING for us. No, it's not his fault that he was overpaid. The only positive thing about his acquisition is that it was one of the few that didn't involve us parting with draft picks to get him.

I, for one will be glad when his overrated ass is gone in favor of somebody who gives a sh*t.

Thomas and Kelly are the ones that have done nothing if you want to talk about production.

If ARE was making the vet min would you think differently?

I would to be honest, but I still wouldnt want him to be back there as a punt returner. He just doesnt put fear in anyone now.

nothing for us? that's one of the dumbest things i have read on here, granted he is not a number two receiver, we got him for that position(not his fault) and he has done pretty damn good for us as far as a receiver, to say he has done nothing for us is just crazy to me, but as for special teams he should have been replaced two years ago he hasn't done much for us there and seems to be getting worse, but he has been a damn good receiver across the middle somthing we have lacked since lossing lav coles

anD A BUM

Brett Favre is going to ruin your once in a lifetime season.

We got 3 RINGS. Our season hasn't been good but your whole franchise history you might want to look up, cause I'm sure youve just started watching football.

Randle El should have always been the slot receiver since the day he got here, and he might have been had Lloyd not been a colossal bust for us

It's almost like one bust leads to another!

In terms of what he was supposed to do for our offense, he simply hasn't produced. Yes, he catches some passes. Occasionally he'll have a 6 or 7 catch game. Whoopee. Go back and listen to Gibbs rave about his abilities on special teams when we first signed him. ARE has been woefully inept as a punt returner.

And no, you cannot cite him as an example of a receiver who has been "pretty damn good" for us. In fact, outside of Moss, (and even he has been more down than up recently) you can't say that about ANY receiver for the Washington Redskins for years. Just look at our offense since 2006 -- what "damn good" contribution have you seen from Randle El? The offense has done nothing but suck balls.

Again, it's not his fault that he was signed and overpaid. As I said in my original post, he exemplifies the fallacy of the philosophy of this front office.

I don't want him on returns either, he should have been replaced a while ago.

However as a receiver he's not a horrible #3 guy. Granted he is way overpaid but that's a function of how our FO works. If he were a vet min guy I think people would look at him differently.

The Redskins have a 10 year history under DS of signing has-beens at the end of there careers at the expense of draft picks and the salary cap (remember Dana Stubblefield, Deion Sanders, Bruce Smith, etc., etc.). It amazes me how every year the fans eat it up like we were just that one guy away from being a contender. Randle El is just one more example. No draft picks, but also no production. Unfortunately, rebuilding this team is going to be a long haul. When we do wise up and get some real football guys in charge, I hope the die-hards are ready for a long rebuilding process. Let's just hope the Danny can keep someone around long-enough to do it right.

Thomas and Kelly suck too. But that doesn't change the fact that Randle El has been a miserable free agent pickup. Can you think of one game since 2006 where we could collectively say, "thank goodness we signed Randle El, he REALLY came through for us today."

As far as his salary goes, it would be nice if we built this team with guys who are hungry, and eager to prove themselves as opposed to flashy guys who in the back of their minds know they will be well compensated no matter how they produce. Antwaan personifies that failed approach.
