GridIron26 11-02-2009, 12:19 AM Ah a guy with my line of thinking. Trade Portis for multiple picks. I would even consider trading Haynesworth during an uncapped year for possible multiple #1 picks. Even multiple second rounders would be acceptable to me for both guys(try to get 3 picks for Al if they are second or thirds). I know getting rid of Al right away sounds nuts, but if you want to rebuild a line relatively quickly that is what you need to do. The newbie that called us idiots did make an excellent point after the collective insult. We really are looking at a massive overhaul, and to me getting multiple picks fast is the way to do it. We then have room to draft a QB, some DBs, etc. Big Al is earning his keep for sure, but unless we can score points and find a way to win, his services are useless.
I wouldn't oppose to the idea of trading Portis, but who do u think would actually try to trade and give up first day round pick for a RB with tons mileages? As for Haynesworth, I said, keep him.. Yes he doesn't score points but he keeps the game close.. He is making Carter look like a real legit DE right now, now try imagine and apply that to Orakpo when he's full-time DE? It would be beast.. And beside, I'm pretty sure Snyder has fallen in love with him, he ain't gonna let Haynesworth go..
There is a possibility that we could rebuild the O-line overnight (off-season), just like we did with our D-line? But of course, it all depends on what we do with our QB situation.. If we do right by the QB situation, then there would be a possibility of completely improved offense next season..
funked 11-02-2009, 12:21 AM I know it was supposed to be about the first round pick, but overall I would not be opposed to:
1.) OT
2.) QB
3.) OL
4.) OL
5.) RB
6.) OL
7.) DL
DBUCHANON101 11-02-2009, 12:21 AM i still feel we should go after a LT 1st that will set us for the next 10yrs or so. then a QB or a Center. I guess it depends on who our next HC is.
Ask yourself, what would MARTY do? :)
DBUCHANON101 11-02-2009, 12:22 AM We dont have a 3rd.

I pretty much like this idea, lol.. Except for 7th pick and we have no 3rd, we can wait until next off season to address defense through draft.. Although I would like us to try and find a SLB through free agent during the off season..

Something along those lines should happen, obviously with a trade down involved for us to acquire a 3rd rounder or maybe even an additional 2nd.
For the most part I agree with what you posted, although I'd like to see us go RB with a pick higher than the 5th round, and we're gonna need more LB depth. We need so much help on offense it's gross. TE is the only place we're set IMO.

Honestly, I'd be happy getting a 3rd or 4th rounder for Portis. I'm sure we could get a good back in the 3rd or 4th round.
Exactly. Look at how a guy like Jake Long has helped Miami. Or how the Jets O-line (a few first rounders) is helping out Sanchez. Actually, when I think about guys like David Carr and Patrick Ramsey, you could literally break a guys spirit by throwing him to the NFL wolves as a young QB with pathetic protection. Build the lines, everything else will follow.
That's what we will have with a 1st round QB with our terrible line.

Well the Jets traded for two of their 1st rounders and they'd been in the league for a while before joining the Jets. We've kind of got that now with Levi Jones (I won't bring up Mike Williams in this case because he hadn't played in so long). And didn't Ramsey have 1st rounders at each end protecting him?

I'd be down with that.
