What would you give to have a return man of his caliber now?
He pissed me off once or twice with some comments about CP on his show, but as it turned out he was right, and his stock has risen in my eyes while CP's has...descended

You know I feel the same way. I thought he was just him being bitter towards the organization. He now has my attention and I know he speaking from the heart. I like the comments about Snyder seeming fed up with Vinny nice to here.

Yep, when it looked like we still had a chance to do things in seasons his words stung too much.. I've always been a fan of his commentary but sometimes it did seem he was stretching a bit. But now that we have to face the reality it's easier to see that he's been right all along.

While Mitchell was never as good at being a RB than Portis is now, he certainly understands at what it means to be a great football player. He has won a Super Bowl in this league and was on a team that was considered a top 20 Super Bowl team. He has HOF stats, why would his criticism seem wrong? When he says that you have to practice in this league to be sharp and consistent, he is dead on. A lot of people accused Mitchell of being a "Hater". That is just crazy. You always have to work to be great. The Redskins in the 80s and early 90s were great because they outworked their opponents. Our teams were not as talented as some of their opponents, but they worked their tails off and that is why they won. The current teams want their money up front and they claim that they are working hard, but I don't know about that. Certainly the results haven't bore that out. Mitchell speaks from experience of being a winner. Something that most of these players on the current team know nothing about.


Congrats to Brian Mitchell. I always liked his attitude and I am glad that he is going into the Ring of Fame. It is well deserved. He is a true Redskin who lives in this area and cares about this team. I don't know how many players on this current team will retire here after football or will care one bit about this organization when they leave. Hail to Brian Mitchell.

Bmitch is one of my all time favorite Redskins, always played with heart and fire...I think he was always under utilized, but he was just a leader 100%...I loved watching that guy play.

His departure from the Skins, in my opinion is a microcosm of the Redskins as a whole since Snyder took over.... Hard working, blue collar, "true Redskin" replaced with a me-first, "superstar", jersey seller AKA Deion Sanders. Travesty. Ironically Bmitch was way more productive than Deion as a return man after 2000.

I have always appreciated BMitch on the field that scrappy bastard, really good, true Redskin. Glad he is going into the Ring of Fame. I will be there to root my team on and BMitch.

After his career or his new career I have always liked a straight shooter, and thats exactly what the man is. Congrads BMitch.

I found this to be refreshing and I have believed for the last three weeks or so that we will finally get the fresh start thats needed VINNY GONE! Get a football man (A real GM) in here that understands the game and a strong leader HC and we are off and running. If Dan will just stay out of the way, which I believe he will after this disaster.

On Wednesday he had a 30-minute conversation with Dan Snyder and he described the Redskins owner as “stressed and pissed off.” While Snyder did not specifically say that Cerrato’s job was on the line, Mitchell definitely was left with that impression.

Not only will Cerrato be gone, in Mitchell’s estimation, but he sees a strong possibility that Snyder will hire a general manager.

Brian Mitchell played the game with attitude and heart. Bmitch was great special teams player and teammate. Every team needs a player like Bmitch who backed up his talk on the football field. He does seem bitter and I'm sure he has some resentment for being released for Deion Sanders. Bmitch is 1 of the all-time Redskin greats. I hated to see him on the Eagles and Giants.

Without question, BMitch has bitterness for Vinny, since it was Vinny who advised Snyder to let Mitchell go. Do recall that BMitch had a KO return for a TD versus Tampa in the 1999 playoffs - his last game played in Burgundy and Gold. After his release he had 3 Pro Bowl calliber seasons in Philly, the likes of which we haven't seen since he returned kicks for the Skins:

2000: Punt return avg - 10.5 (1 TD); Kickoff return avg - 23.9 (1 TD)
2001: Punt return avg - 12.0; Kickoff return avg - 25.0 (1 TD)
2002: Punt return avg - 12.3 (1 TD); Kickoff return avg - 27.0

Vinny's advice to Snyder to release BMitch was HUGE for rival Philly, who had pathetic return teams before Mitchell arrived. Philly advanced to the NFC Championship the last two years Mitchell was there, and he was certainly a big reason why they took that step to the upper echelon. Bottom line, the guy is a winner, and I don't blame him for being bitter toward Cerrato, who is a total fraud.
