Could serve as the public endorsement the players have been calling for. It does offer just a "little" stability to what otherwise has become a calamity. If there's any such thing as the "lesser of two evils" then Zorn is probably the best option at least until the end of the season.

I also heard Vinny make those comments this morning, and I can't help but laugh every time he speaks. He sounds like an uneducated moron, and basically every public comment he makes is a defense for some asinine decision the organization has made, making him sound even more inept.

I know that slamming Vinny is cliche at this point, but I've always been in the camp that thinks Vinny is Snyders puppet. This season, I'm starting to think Vinny has a lot more stroke than I originally thought, and it's disgusting to think Snyder would allow that dude to be in charge of football operations.

Keeping a guy in charge, that has been stripped of responsibilities......brilliant.

I assume that you're referring to Wade Phillips.

He does sound extremely defensive, I agree Southpaw. Def not indicative of someone who is confident in his moves, etc.

I love how some posters will find negativity in this move. The masses just want to bash ownership, and that is gonna happen regardless of what they do.

This was the right move by ownership/VC. Quell the media and give Zorn support. Now ESPN and SC can stfu about firing Zorn 24/7. This doesnt mean ownership is off the hook, but for now they did the right thing by endorsing the Z-man.

It's a no win at this point.

I have no problem w/ keeping JZ for the rest of the season. I just don't believe anything VC sais. Never have. If the skins lose big and get embarrassed Monday we'll see if VC meant what he said.

VC shouldn't have a radio show anyways. Earlier in the year, VC had Mel Kiper on and was talking about the Notre Dame game. I can't remember who they were playing, but VC was saying that it was a must win for Weiss in order for him to keep his job.

MK then told Vinny that the Skins needed to beat the Lions or he'd lose his job. Nice reply by Mel Kiper.

You'll find there are many in agreement with you. I think what they're trying to do is change the headlines at least for a moment. There has been a tremendous amount of bashing going on the last month or more, the atmosphere needed a curve and this is undoutedly an atempt to squash some of the negative.

wait... Before we play our playoff game???

Oh yeah that would not make sense! Ok after the first playoff lost or SB win. =)

I kinda expected this. Snyder doesn't want to fire another coach midseason... it's only going to reflect poorly on him in the end. Looking back I'm sure he regrets canning Norv during the season and wishes that didn't happen.

The best thing to do is ride out this season and then address things after the season ends.

Interesting how this move is made after Shanahan (and probably Gruden) rebuffed his offers to take the team over mid-season. Realistically, Snyder has absolutely nothing to gain by firing Zorn mid-season given the qualifications of the in-house replacements.

I completely agree with the assertion that Vinny sounds like an idiot...just reading the transcript, it seems that he is desperately scrambling to say something, anything that gets him off the hook. He is super defensive and its clear that he is scared about his job. Good, he should be scared, when you mess up time and time again for 10 years you should have lost your job a long time ago...here's hoping no matter what happens, VC is fired. At least Zorn is a good guy who is just in over his head.
